How cheap can you get an Ebay alt team?!
As an exercise for those who need a serviceable team, I decided to look at Horrorclix (they're cheap) for a Necro team and used the Ebay Stores function for their buy-it-now and to combine shipping.... Also sorted by lowest price and shipping combined...!
At $1 USD each!!!
2x Werewolf Orderlies
2x Asylum Spirits (wight)
2x Wildman of Borneo (ghoul)
2x Hungry Bertha (for the Flesh Golem)
and at $1.25 USD each:
6x Shambling Zombies
That's a "whopping" $15.50 plus shipping (normal shipping is $1.95... combined shouldn't be much more) for a full, functional team....
Not too shabby....

How are they size-wise? I haven't seen them before.

I own several that I use for "loaner" teams and they are standard 28mm size....

I'm using some D&D pre-painted minis for my Lizardman, Ogre, Slann and Chaos teams.
They look decent and were pretty cheap. I got them a couple of years ago so I can't remember exact prices.
Geoff.

Digger inspired me to do a quick ebay search. If you're willing to spend a bit more on a few players, the following are (IMHO) pretty cool for alternate flesh golems:
The Fiend
Skinsuit
Bull
(edit) add Bobo to the list.
There are also a small plethora of zombie types available if you want more variety (I found a 10 pack for about $5 at the current bid! - no, I'm not bidding on them) and there are at least 3 different werewolves that I've found thus far.
If you don't mind a few odd-ball looking pieces, there are a ton of cool options.

Under the cheap and (maybe) silly, but entirely fun(ny) subject, here is my (at least till I get something better painted) Vampire team (in Horrorclix):
A boatload of these (for thralls):

and good ol' Nosferatu (for the vamps):

In the end, I paid $4.78 USD (total w/shipping) for 3 Nosferatu; and $7.43 USD (total w/shipping) for 10 Quarterback Slashers and 3 Goat-headed Satanists (I just like the fig)....
That's $12.21 for a very nice looking Vampire team....

Hmm, possibly useful for me. I imagine that I wouldn't be as careful about storing these without chipping them, so they'd be great for spare teams on club night...

Re: How cheap can you get an Ebay alt team?!
I bought about $15 worth of stuff at an arts/crafts store that enabled me to make a unique Halfling team of 16 players (including 2 trees) plus the cook, and wooden bases for them as well. Actually, I like to refer to the team as "Hatchlings":
The "halflings" are dragon eggs with feet breaking through the bottom, and for the trees I have Young Dragons (small plastic dragon toys, sized just right). I based them, painted them all up with a coordinated palette, finished the bases and had a simple easy but nice looking and fun team. I even bought a craft bird's nest to use as a dugout! Now if I could just get my camera working I'd post some pics of them.

Can I ask where you got these and if you have a pic? I'm very interested in this!OdoGoodgrubb wrote:I bought about $15 worth of stuff at an arts/crafts store that enabled me to make a unique Halfling team of 16 players (including 2 trees) plus the cook, and wooden bases for them as well. Re: How cheap can you get an Ebay alt team?!
Interesting idea....
I have trouble getting people to try Bloodbowl because they don't have a team, and they don't want to play one of the 3 teams I do own, so creating a couple of junk teams on the cheap might be a way to go.
Plus at just 15 bucks or so for a full 16 man roster you can't really go wrong.
It may get people to play in my league and they could use the junk team till they create/buy their own.
Thanks for the idea
