Another game and another improvementroll, this time on the BT-ogre. Yet again I rolled a 4+6, and yet again I'm clueless about what the right cause of action is. Take MA+1 on this too (Works quite well with Break Tackle as I think of him as a defender/blitzer but there are some strength skills that also could work well with BT) or take a normal skill?

A few more matches played and my ogre lineup is now like this:
Ogre1 MA+1
Ogre2 Block, Dodge, Guard, Break Tackle
Ogre3 Strong Arm, Guard
Ogre4 Guard
Ogre5 Guard Multiple Block
Ogre6 Break Tackle. MA+1
The Multiple Block addition is yet to have any real effect, by I thought I'd at least try it out. The 2 ogres with MA+1 is golden though especially on the BT guy.
I've got one star snotling with AG+1 and a skill and who now picked up a 4+6 roll which puts his MA up to 6. Other than that I've got 3 DT snotling and 1 with Catch.

If he does throw snots a fair bit, then Break Tackle. You can move and pass: it allows him to break a mark to get to the waiting snot.
BTW, usually MBlock goes on Ogres without Guard. You need the Guard on other Ogres, so that you get two 2d blocks on the LoS. You should get that pretty much every time you receive.

Break Tackle was my initial instinct on several of my remaining ogres with Stand Firm as a close second. It's always good to have a mobile players with guard, because everyone says that the more BT ogres you have the tougher the defensive work for the opponent to stop you. But is BT and SF my two main options or have I missed something?
And concerning Multiple Block, I know that it would make more sense on an ogre without Guard but as it is I already have 4 guard ogres and the two without it both has MA+1 which makes them optimal for blitzing and defensive purposes and therefore other skills

A couple of matches more played now and my team now looks like this:
Ogre 1 MA+1 (15spp 1 to raise)
Ogre 2 Guard, Block, Dodge, Break Tackle (63spp 13 to raise)
Ogre 3 Guard, Strong Arm, AG+1, Sure Hands (55spp 21 to raise)
Ogre 4 Guard Stand Firm (19spp, 12 to raise)
Ogre 5 Guard, Multiple Block (29spp 2 to raise)
Ogre 6 Break Tackle, MA+1 Stand Firm (45spp 6 to raise)
Snotling 1 Diving Tackle (8spp 8 to raise)
Snotling 2 AG+1, MA+1, Sure Hands, Catch (51 spp)
Snotling 3 Diving Tackle (12 spp)
Snotling 4 Catch (9spp)
Snotling 5 Diving Tackle (7spp)
and 3 unskilled snots
So a couple of players close to raising and I wouldn't mind to here your suggestions. Especially on the ogres. What to take on Normal/Double?

I'd get a piling on blocker ogre (on one of the guards? - no synergy, but piling on is GREAT against AV7 - 58% chance of knockout or worse). Piling on gets linearly better the less AV the oppo has (30% KO+ for AV9, 44% for AV8 & 58% for AV7 [with MB]). You just need to be willing to send your ogre on the ground.
Break tackle on the MA+1 ogre. Imo you should have taken juggernaut on your MA+1/break tackle ogre to make him a mobile blitzer type. Go for that on your MA+1 ogre then.
I've always sworn by dirty player snotlings (on doubles), mine get offed from the field awfully quick (43% per knockdown), so I don't mind getting sent off by the ref instead.
I'd sack the catch snotling, MA5 & AV5 seems to make for a lowsy catcher, really.
Have you been winning a lot? Seems you must have considering the high skillrates, or else you've been playing an awful lot of games..
Interesting, that you picked sure hands on the +ag/ma player, he's st1 so sure hands surely won't help you that much vs blitzing strip balls or can you build your cages so that you get 3 guards on blitzers? I would have got block I guess..

I'm guessing he wants a player who can reliably pick up the ball and score. Even Ogres need to win games every now and again.
I'd keep the Snotling star. Chances are your opponants will kill him off soon enough anyway. May as well enjoy him while you can.
And Break Tackle on the +1MA Ogre, definately. Nothing more scary then a mobile Ogre. Bar maybe two or three.

I play ogres trying to win each match, and my firm belief is that you don't do that placing your best player prone, therefore I have avoided Piling-on but at this stage I should probably take Piling-on on one making him my specialist of removing annoying players (like Secret Weapon-starplayers) for the game. And the best choice for that is probably Ogre nr 4 or 5.Carnis wrote:I'd get a piling on blocker ogre (on one of the guards? - no synergy, but piling on is GREAT against AV7 - 58% chance of knockout or worse). My snotlings have been offed pretty much to so not getting that many double rolls yet but I tend to use them (especially those with Diving Tackle) to get where I want them to be. They are expendable and if my opponent blitz one of my snotling, chances are they do that instead of picking on a more important player. With that said my snotlingstar have been marvelous, he is the one picking the ball and either running into a cage, been thrown by an ogre or hand off the ball to make TD's and thus far he's been really lucky. He has been on the team for all 20 matches that the team has played.Carnis wrote: I've always sworn by dirty player snotlings (on doubles), mine get offed from the field awfully quick (43% per knockdown), so I don't mind getting sent off by the ref instead.

In my 20 games with the team I've won 10 games which at least put me at a fair success considering the tier of the team, but there is always room for improvement.Carnis wrote: Have you been winning a lot? The team is playing against Khemri, Norse and Slann in the league. So, should I take the ST+1, a double skill (in that case which: Frenzy, Tackle, Strip Ball or Pro or something completely different?) or should I just go for the Stand firm?

Re: Snotpicks
Take the +1 ST. He already has break tackle and block so he will make a great cage breaker. Dodging into 3 tackle zone on a 3+ w/ a
re-roll will make him one of the scariest players in your league.
