Re: Your views on the Swiss System
The problem with Swiss is it is to easy to back door the overall.
A loss or tie puts you in a different bracket from the top winners until the final round or 2.

I think that is a good thing in these circumstances personally
you can simply avoid it by having the top two after the final round playing a final though, I personally prefer just playing swiss the whole way
makes it more exciting for more people in the last game

Re: Your views on the Swiss System
The swiss is the best scoring system to me, the really problem is the tiebreak most tournaments use, TD and Cas. systems are horrible, the best tiebreak is the traditional "opponents score" used in the chess tourneys, the only problem for this tiebreak is the drops of the players if a player drops at round 2-3 ruins the tiebreak of his previous oponents, but this culd be fixed using all the oppo results except the worse.

The problem, and I think it's one we're just going to have to live with, is that it's not chess. We aren't playing the same team. Not all teams have an equal ability to score/cause injury. Not the team you play or the team you play agianst. Any points or tie breakers are going to be the advantage of one team or another.

Exactly, swiss is fine! But as tie-breaker only "opponent score" is really fair.

What do you mean by "opponent score"? Looking at the total TDs scored for two tied coaches?Banelord wrote:Exactly, swiss is fine! Re: Your views on the Swiss System
No the total tournament points. Assuming 3 for a win: if you win, win, lose you'll play coaches with 0,3,6,6 = 15 points. But if you lose, win, win you'll play coaches with 0,0,3,6 = 9 points. Both coaches will have 6 points themselves The first coach has played harder opponents so his tiebreaker is better.

Not necessarily, agree more likely to have played better opponents, but frequently happens that two top coaches play in the first round.Joemanji wrote:No the total tournament points. I see the logic, but doesn't always work.

Re: Your views on the Swiss System
At the WISB, we ran swiss (3-1-0) with no bonus points and a random draw after tournament points. It was quite nice as you couldn't work out who exactly you would have next round.
For the final scores it went to TD difference, but as the overall winner was on his own with 16 tourny points the tiebreaker didn't matter till you got to 3rd place.

I think this is a much better system. I'd like to see more tourneys use it.PeteW wrote:At the WISB, we ran swiss (3-1-0) with no bonus points and a random draw after tournament points. It was quite nice as you couldn't work out who exactly you would have next round.

Not only does it mix up coaches, it mixes up races. Robin (Blocknroll) said before our game that he rarely gets to face WEs and the likes because of the TD difference thing. Very interesting, and more varied games can only be a good thing.
