+1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
So I just finished up a local league, and one of the rewards (which I won) was that if you're team had the most TDs in the league, you could give one of your players +1 AG.
I now have absolutely no idea who to give it to. Here is my team:
Kroxigor - Break Tackle 9 SPP
Catcher - Dodge, Block 16 SPP
Catcher - Dodge, Block 16 SPP
*Catcher - Pass, Sure Hands 21 SPP
Catcher - Dodge 6 SPP
*Lineman - +1 ST 7 SPP
Lineman - Wrestle 6 SPP
Lineman - Guard 7 SPP
Lineman
Lineman - Guard 7 SPP
Lineman
4 RRs
4 FF
1 Apo
TV - 1,410,000
I personally think that the +1 AG would be best on one of the two players I starred. The Pass/Sure Hands Catcher because if he had AG5, then there wouldn't be many loose balls that he couldn't get to. Also, the ST4 Lineman being able to leap into a cage on a 2+ would be tremendous.
They both have extreme merits. I am slightly leaning toward +1 AG on the ST4 Lineman, because then he would be handling the ball more often, therefore getting more SPPs, therefore becoming the Wrestle/Strip Ball Star I want him to be so much faster.
What are peoples thoughts?

Catchers are squishy by nature. The catcher to which you're considering giving the AG boost does not have any defensive skills hence giving him +AG would make him a very obvious and easy target. Tempting as it would seem, I wouldn't recommend it.
In my opinion, your choice depends on your leagues' metagame. If the other teams have a large amount of guard I'd recommend sticking the boost on one of your guardfrogs to cancel out their advantage. If not, I'd also go with your +ST frog as he would be a nice little flying bulldozer

So I'm pretty sure I'm going to give it to my ST4 Lino.
Thanks for the advice.

Re: +1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
You're quite welcome.
I've actually personnaly had the luck to roll a +AG on one of my linefrogs on his first roll. He became my scoring machine. Less movement than a normal catcher and no diving catch, but stronger and better armoured. I can only dream of what he would be if he had + ST in addition
Also, looking ahead, I would personnaly take block for his next skill-up. Gives him some defense, allows him to take better advantage of his ST4; in short, your opponent will have to be careful about punching him which will allow him to take advantage of his AG4. Dodge is a nice follow-up to that.
Yum... Blodging +AG +ST linefrog...

Good! Whilst a 2+ leap guarder is nice, what is the point if you can get a 2+ ST4 leap anyway! Wrestle next and no cage will be safe.So I'm pretty sure I'm going to give it to my ST4 Lino.
Thanks for the advice.

Although I see the merits in a Blodge skill setup next, his next three skills will be Strip Ball/Wrestle/Dodge.
Once he gets Strip Ball/Wrestle, there will be no ball safe from him. He can leap anywhere on a 2+, then on any roll but a Skull when he blitzes my opponents ball carrier, I knock the ball away - even if the opponents ball carrier has Blodge. Him having ST4 means that most of the time he will be getting a 2 die block even in cages.
If he is unmarked and needs to get into a cage and knock the ball away, then he will be knocking the ball away...
70% of the time.

Re: +1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
I'd definitely give the +AG to the S4 lino. But I'd consider giving him Block next, perhaps followed by Tackle. That way he'd be more of a general asset in offence and defence besides busting the cage. With S4 he's likely to get two dice anyway. Two stat upgrades add up TV so he'll be an expensive one trick pony (a good one though).
You already have a lino with Wrestle. Give him Strip Ball next and whenever you're not facing Sure Hands, you can use him to get into the cage (a 1-d with Wrestle and Strip Ball is excellent odds).

I agree with Ullis here. Block will allow him to serve as a ball carrier as well as a cage breaker. Frenzy wouldn't be a bad late skill - ST4, Block, Tackle, Frenzy gives you a good chance of free the ball, but can also serve as a headhunter.Ullis wrote:I'd definitely give the +AG to the S4 lino. I agree, give it to the ST4 lineman. Then Block, followed by Tackle. Though AG 5 catchers are good at recovering the ball and getting it where you want it.
I must say, it's sort of a weird "prize" to give a team that's already leading the league in TDs.

Re: +1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
So the general consensus is that I should give Katakimiku (ST4 AG4 Lineman) Block, but I definitely want to give I definitely want to give him Strip Ball as well. So do you think I should give him that before or after Block?

Re: +1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
I would give him Block first, because it not only aids him in bringing people down (though perhaps not so much if your league is quite developed), but also protects him from being knocked down. Personally, I would also take Tackle before Strip Ball, but that decision might be more subjective and depend on how much Dodge you go up against.

Re: +1 AG to give to a Slann Team Player
Block or Wrestle depends on what sort of teams you are likely to face. Lots of bashy teams then I'd go for wrestle as their ball carriers are likely to have block, so you reduce your chance of knocking the ball free by 1/6 if you take block.
Block would probably be better against agility teams, although if you need him as a ball carrier then sure hands would be useful as your opos are likely to have strip ball.
