For a modest sum you can borrow the Goblins if peer pressure gets to you....
Or let me take the hit.

Re: White isle bowl - what are you taking?
Just because you've labelled them tier 2 in this format, Pete, doesn't actually make them tier 2. It just gives you more skills to buy for them than you would have if you had rightly put them in tier 1.
Organiser in "Bends rules for own benefit" shocker! Not been so blatant since... um, Toy Soldier 2010! Shame, Peter. Shame.

Re: White isle bowl - what are you taking?
lol.
I did actually originally put them in tier one on my first draft of the rules, but was pursuades (by a person that I will not name) that no-one would take orcs if they were in tier 1 as they weren't as good at that TR so I should move them to tier 2.
I was originally going to take dark elves (or pro-elves) but I haven't got a star that fits with the team, or the ability to paint as well as spubbbba.
I honestly don't think that orcs will win it, but if you really think I am powergaming my own tourney then I am happy to use any race really.
I may not even end up playing if we have an odd number and my spare-player plan doesn't work out. :'(
So, seeing as you have won about 17 tournies so far this year Paul, what race are you using?

Re: White isle bowl - what are you taking?
Underworld, actually.
Not sure I agree with Sillysod that they are the "best by miles" (I'm more agreeing with you, Pete, that they will be beaten up), but they are going to be a lot better than normal given a few extra skills.
So I thought I'd give them a go and perhaps give a tier 1 team (whichever tier they are actually in) a bloody nose like Barney the Lurker's Underworld gave my Woodies at Monkeybowl.

Re: White isle bowl - what are you taking?
I think goblins might have some fun. If they can put enough people out with saws, fanatics and fouling then there won't be anything left!
Rotters look like they really shoudl be good with so many skills, but somehow, I still doubt it!
It will be interesting seeing how people do and what teams they bring.

Was that me?PeteW wrote:I did actually originally put them in tier one on my first draft of the rules, but was pursuades (by a person that I will not name) that no-one would take orcs if they were in tier 1 as they weren't as good at that TR so I should move them to tier 2.
Personally I think they're in the right tier (give or take) as the list stands; but if you get into a debate as to where everything lives in this sort of a format, you'll go on for hours and not please everyone. It's not like it's a tried and tested formula - you can have a tweak if it's run again.
Don't listen Pete, be the ultimate panto villain.

I think it would be funny if Pete powergamed to the win in his own tournament. Us luddites could have lots of fun complaining about "those internet types" and how they don't understand "the way things work".

Re: White isle bowl - what are you taking?
lol. Okay, Joe, I'll give it a go. But only for you!
I have only ever one one tournament, you know, and that was a fluke due to a jammy thrown goblin in round 4. And if Geoff hadn't had had the runs, he reliably tells me that he would have played for overtime, instead of going for the more risky fulltime win...
Don't over-rate me, I'm rubbish really.

Don't worry Pete, nobody thinks you are good. Just a powergamer. Besides, everyone knows only chumps win the BBGT (Nick being the exception of course).PeteW wrote:I have only ever one one tournament, you know, and that was a fluke due to a jammy thrown goblin in round 4.
