I am currently playing in a small local league (just 4 players atm, hoping to jump up to 6 for the next season). The teams are currently Slann (me), Orcs, Undead, and Chaos Dwarfs. So its me, agility player, against three bashy teams. Now you see why I won the 'most touchdowns' even though I'm second in the league with a 2/2/2 record (all teams were new at the start of the league).

So I don't really want to give my super star player wrestle, as him on the ground would be a foul magnet. I want to keep him alive at all cost. Therefor, I want to give him Block at 16 SPP, then Strip Ball at 31 SPP. It shouldn't be too long, as I will be making him score the majority of my TDs from now on.

I do really want him to have Strip Ball though, so he can be a cage breaking machine. Is it worth it to wait until I get Block?

A slann player with ST4 and AG4 is going to be a target of opportunity. In a league with three bashy teams, Block is going to be invaluable in keeping him on his feet and alive. His third skill will come soon enough.

Mmm, I'd still go wrestle, by the time you get block and strip ball, your opos' ball carriers should have block and sure hands, apart from possibly the CDs.

Yeah, he will attract fouls, but fouling isn't particularly effective in LRB6 and I'd take my chances.

... and the stunties (incl. Lizzies)
That's quiet a few teams.

I believe he's referring to just the teams in my league.

I think you'll be facing lots of ball carriers with Block. Orcs and Undead are both teams where the natural ball carriers are easy to skill up or either start with Block (and most likely are there already). This means that Aliboon's advice about taking Wrestle instead of Block is sound. And many players get fouled, big deal. Additionally, if the ball's loose and you've swamped or even picked it up yourself, the opponent will probably struggle to get a good gang foul on a lino lying around. Or if he does, then your chances of scoring go up.

I think the Chaos Dwarfs are the only team that you might end up getting much use for Strip Ball as they might struggle to get a hobbo with Sure Hands on the roster. Of course, one use for Strip Ball, especially on a slann team, is forcing the opponent to use the Sure Hands player as the ball carrier, limiting his options. But for that purpose Strip Ball on a normal S3 lino should be enough. Giving this very special 6448 2+ leaping player Strip Ball is a waste. You'll get much more use from some other skill, Tackle for instance on a normal roll. With S4, Tackle and Wrestle you're looking at getting two dice against quite a few ball carriers which means a 25% chance of getting the player on the floor.

In short, I would not take Strip Ball on this player as there are better alternatives. Especially if you give him Wrestle as that should be enough to do the trick.

Thanks a bunch for your insight Ullis! I now see your point with not taking Strip Ball. I'm still going to have to think about Wrestle however, but now that you mention it, most of the ball carriers that I play against do have block, except on the CD team...

Agree with Ullis, strip ball on such a star is a waste. Frenzy (after block/wrestle) could be cool too, then use him to crowdsurf players. Nobody is safe from the leaping frog of Doom! :smoking:

I would avoid putting wrestle on a st4 linefrog. What's the point of being ST4 if you are on the ground?
