What better combo for a cage-front? Opponents can't mark you, as you can knock one man away and still catch in a second TZ. It's easy to knock one man away, as you have SS and Guard, so you're always fronted up on your target and always get to provide an assist. There's simply no way to game off this player as an outlet, either on a receiving drive or in the wake of a recovery.

Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
I'd pick the "bash faces in when blocking"-double i.e. MB over "untouchable" NOS-double after Blodge/SS/Guard any day of the week. The synergy from staying up after being blocked + staying next to you due to Blodge/SS and the fact that you're often in the midst of it due to Guard screams for MB for me. Not NOS.mattgslater wrote:What better combo for a cage-front? Opponents can't mark you, as you can knock one man away and still catch in a second TZ. Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
That would be reasonable, too. Frankly, when you have AG4, Blodge, SS and Guard, there are more combos that can be counted. All I'm saying is that on a piece like this you can afford to let your hair down on the late skills rather than sweating the marginal value of the one-best-skill. I mean, he already has the Power Four.

Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
It's time for a new season and last went well, won the Legend Division (TV 260+) and Runners-Up in the Fury Cup (any TV, as long as you play in a division). I was @ 267 Tv before I dropped the following players and a reroll.
Witch Elf 7346 Frenzy, Dodge, Jump-Up, Wrestle, Side Step, Tackle, Shadowing, Fend
Blitzer 7348 Block, Dodge, Side Step, Fend, Shadowing and Niggling. Got -AV and back to 8.
Here is the team now (playing in the Supder Duper Division TV180-219)
Naggaroth United TV218
Rerolls: 4
Fan Factor: 10
Cash: Only 60K
Witch Elf 7347 Frenzy, Dodge, Jump-Up, Guard (14 spp, so it's Block soon. Took Guard before Mighty Blow and that makes 4 players with Guard)
Blitzer 6348 Block, Dodge, Guard, Tackle, Side Step, Fend (a bit slow, but a bit good too)
Blitzer 7348 Block, Catch, Dodge, Side Step, Guard (always in reach for a "dump-off" pass)
Blitzer 7349 Block (my last AV9 lived long and was great at holding opponents in check)
Runner 7348 Dump-Off, Nerves of Steel, Pass, Block, Dodge (The 5th Blitzer! Awesome Runner)
Runner 7347 Dump-Off, Wrestle, Dodge (Tackle next, need Tackle badly!!!)
Lineman 6347 Block, Dodge, Fend (reserve)
Lineman 6348 Block, Dodge, Side Step, Fend
Lineman 6348 Block, Dodge, Side Step, Kick
Lineman 6348 Wrestle, Dodge
Lineman 5348 Stand Firm, Block, Guard (Need Dodge, then he will rock hard)
Lineman 6348 (rookie)
Lineman 6348 Block and Niggling
I think it's a solid team @218TV and the first 40K will get my a new blitzer.
It was tough to play with 260+ TV, all wizards and other inducements was sometimes better for the opponent than having my great players in the reserves!!!

Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
Similar situation for me. My blitzer from another DE page recently leveled. He currently has +1 ag and tackle. My plan for him was leap or dodge followed by sidestep. He rolled double 5. Conventional wisdom say guard. I would also be wise to ignore the double and get dodge. I can also see the merits of mighty blow, he could become my default safety and defensive back. Any thoughts? I was planning on ignoring the stats either way.

Ag5 Leap coupled with Guard...
I think it's a good choice, you can probably fit your assist so much better than you won't need as many guards.

Stash> I would never pick guard on a witch elf, mighty blow or juggernaut are so much better on an AV7 frenzy. But apart from that, your team looks pretty solid.
Uldreg> ag 5 leap and guard is mean! or ag 5 dodge, guard... ag5 dodging can also get your guard into good positions and keep him more safe than leap. But I would definately pick guard.

Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
With Guard that AG5 blitzer won't break any cages, whereas Leap would make him perfect for the job, especially as he has Tackle already. Dodge will round him out perfectly after Leap. He can leap in, block the ball carrier, pick up any loose balls and dodge out.
I think AG4 and Dodge are enough for an elf guarder. Guard, while a great skill for elves, wastes some of the potential of AG5. He can do better stuff than stand around providing assists and Guard pushes Leap and Dodge into the far future as he's at 31 spp's now.

Re: Dark Elf Blitzer rolling double 4
I think was a good pick. Considering this dude is your receiver I would of suggested leap looking at the team overall. However guard is still the best pick
If you never played elf with much guard keep picking it on the av8 dudes and try it on mass. 4sounds just brutal

I used to have a witch elf with Mighty Blow and that helped, but not gamebreaking!dines wrote:Stash> I would never pick guard on a witch elf, mighty blow or juggernaut are so much better on an AV7 frenzy. But apart from that, your team looks pretty solid.
I think Guard (a total of 4) is better, both for offence and defence. You put witch elf to help other players to block her free, so she can't be hit next turn.
