Still, I will never, ever buy them or use them because they're made of plastic. No plastic minis for me, nosiree.
Interesting thought..no plastic?...understandable for a BB player, no many minis to carry around so weight isn't really an issue.
If you play other larger army games is this the same? Must weigh a tonne!!

I thought plastic was better than metal since you can have finer details on plastic figures.

No, I don't play any larger army games, for two reasons: One, I don't like plastic minis, period. Smurfs, Lego men and He-man figures are made of plastic, not my kinda toys. If I were to pick up Warhamster again, I simply couldn't avoid buying loads of plastic minis and I hate that. Reason two: large games are fun, but they require a lot of space and time and are tedious to set up. By the time the two armies face each other over a lavishly decorated battlefield, ready to START doing battle, I'd probably have a game of BB almost done already.Pug wrote:Interesting thought..no plastic?...understandable for a BB player, no many minis to carry around so weight isn't really an issue. True, plastic minis are easier to convert and I love converting.
Actually, that's another reason to not buy/use plastic minis. Converting plastic minis is for kids. You could do it with a pair of scissors and your mommy's nail file. Give me my dremel power tools, hacksaws, razor-sharp blades, files and pin vices, my industrial-strength superglue that permanently conjoins my index and middle finger, the need to pin joints with brass rods and I'm a happy man. A MAN, I say, setting myself a challenge that is deliberately hard to accomplish when I set out to convert metal minis instead of plastic toys.
The rate of injury has definitely gone up ever since GW switched to the "new metal", which is impossible to bend, much harder to cut, drill or whittle but easier to file. Filing's tedious, though, so safety flies out the window in the face of impatience.

waooo you're a real man, I am so impressed and amazed by the challenges you set yourself.
Do you buy the Citadel colours or do you have only the 3 primaries, white and black to blend yourself like a real grown up?

I see what you mean. I only watch black and white movies cause the smurfs and He-man cartoons are in colour and that's not my kind of entertainment.boondog wrote:No, I don't play any larger army games, for two reasons: One, I don't like plastic minis, period. Well, of course you are, if you know what's good for you.Greyhound wrote:waooo you're a real man, I am so impressed and amazed by the challenges you set yourself.
And while you're at it, you should also marvel at my supreme reasoning capabilities, which allow me to declare myself all butch and manly even though my self-professed hobby involves dicking around with little tin soldiers pretending to play football in a make-believe wonderland.
Also, the power of a rationalization that establishes a difference between "toys" and "collectibles" with the employ of an eventually stipulative difference should send you into a veritable fit of adulation.

Re: Multi-part plastic river trolls
I use these as my trolls n ripper for my gobbo team, with very little work I got them in nice poses for use on the pitch and to denote skills they have.
Not very often I will do this, but I congratulate GW for once???!!!
Now put some effort into bloodbowl
