Slaan Team Development

Post by air139 »

My team http://www.fabbl.net/tracker/index.php? ... eam_id=210

I have 4 slaan catchers

#1 has Diving Catch, Leap, Very Long Legs, Sure Hands, Pass
#2 has Diving Catch, Leap, Very Long Legs, Dodge, Catch
#3 has Diving Catch, Leap, Very Long Legs, Dodge, Catch
#4 has Diving Catch, Leap, Very Long Legs, Dodge, Pass

Unfortunately number 3 rolled double 2's and I have no clue what to take at all. The origional plan was to take block, or pass block if I was feeling whimsical, but with doubles should I give him Nerves of Steel, Dump Off, Pass, or Hail Mary Pass? Or is the Block still the sound choice?

Life was easier to plan before the doubles. x.x

Guard! He can get anywhere on 2s

I think block/wrestle/strip ball would have been better choices on singles.

Guard for me too so you can attack cages with 2 dice.

Otherwise your skill choices are a bit unorthodox. I'd look to give all blitzers Block (or Wrestle, but I prefer Block on them) as their first skill. Dodge won't really add much to their usefulness. Since the blitzers should get Block, then you need Wrestle on the linos.

Slann need Guard to compete at mid to high TV. Simple as. I do not understand this fixation on HMP, as discussed in many other threads.

I like HMP, but it's definitely not needed. It depends on your play style - a local coach has good luck out running our slow, bash heavy league - so he punts the ball away a lot with HMP (after stripping the ball) and out runs the opposition.

Guard is the preferred doubles choice. I passed it up on a first skill to protect the catcher - but once I have protection skills, I'd take it. (well, I rolled double 5s last time on a dodge catcher and took the move boost but it was a very tough choice).

I prefer Wrestle on linefrogs over block, but I like Block over wrestle on most if not all blitzers.

I never take a regular pass skill (other than HMP) on anyone.

Guard. No question. In fact, your Dodge/Pass guy could have taken Guard too, no?

1x Pass is really nice. You don't need more than that.

I just finished playing in the spike tournament with slann. I took guard on a catcher and it was awesome. Putting a guard piece inside a cage on a 2+ is amazing and a must have if you can get it. I was also thinking of taking wrestle and dauntless on a catcher to see how that works.

The Dodging Blitzer is getting, Dodge, Block, Sidestep, Shadowing. Slaan blitzers aren't really blitzers, they are more of markers and safeties and screens.

Shadowing + DT on the same player seems a bit overcommitment on the whole anti-dodge thing, but for each their own I guess.
