In Concept: DBBL (Druchii (dark elf) Blood Bowl League )

Ok, getting a a few ideas formed for a pure Dark Elf RP league done via PBeM. If you're not sure what I mean by an 'RP' league, then it's "Role-Played", basically no (overly) silly names for teams or players and an effort to keep with the 'feel' of the league (IE, Murderous Dark Elves).

To make the league unique there will be a few (easy to remember) changes. The most important is.. Dark Elves only

. Secondly, a selection of Dark Elf stadiums from various locations in Naggaroth, a few stadiums have various in game effects. Thirdly, a new weather table that takes into consideration the harshness of the 'Land of Chill' and finally... The event table.. This is a unique table rolled on at the end of each set of matches that can have various effects on teams, whether a case of nurgles rot strikes down some players, witch elves demand a sacrifice or perhaps an old pro offers the lowest rated team his services for a few matches... It's all random

Thought on the random events .... create a special card table like the Pub Leagues have and draw one card for each team at the beginning of the game ... have the event be pre instead of post game and it will be a lot easier to have the program help you with it.

You can also customize the weather table to create your own, if you use only names from the standard table or the Lustrian tables then the tool will automate the effects.

Must coach dark elves!!!... can I have an all witch elf team???? Err... I guess that one's against the rules!

Perfect opportunity to see whether dark elves are really tough to coach, or whether I really suck at coaching them!

Just bouncing some ideas around

e.g.

Themes:

Witch Elf (no blitzers, 0-6 witches)
City Guard (no witches, 0-6 blitzers)
Corsairs (???)

New positions:

Cold Ones - really stupid big guy who can't pick up the ball
Hydra - similar, but even harder.

thats all I can think of for now, if you've got the DE army books have a look through them for inspiration.

Ithilkir, I'd be interested. I'm crap with a HE team, be interesting to see if I'm any better with DE, then I'll know it's psychological.

A (well needed) update

I've finally managed to settle down my life to a reasonable extent (hopefully). So I'm going to push ahead with an all Dark Elf team

A few ideas are shelved for the first season, but staying is the all dark elf idea (just the one team currently) and a random event table for the whole league (not just a single match). Basically a standard LRB league with only the dark elf team currently available to use and a random table for events.

I'll make up a quick website with the basic rules of the league (two divisions with a promotion/relegation style) and hopefully have it uploaded tonight/tomorrow at some point

Glad to hear of an update.

I was hoping that this league was going to happen at some point.

I just finished up a league, where we played with the Inter-Match League Rules that came out in BB compendium 2. They didn't work to bad. A couple where pretty harsh (assinate player, kidnap coach-which happened to me, never did get him back, not helpful for a fouly DE team

, robbery) and some where practically worthless (gambling +20K) and some where outstanding (dead player comes back to life, healing scrolling for 20K, knuckledusters (+1AR,+1INJroll) for 50K, +1 player with 2 SP rolls for normal price). So it added something to the league. a couple players didn't like the results, they did keep rolling the bad results though.
I believe the article is listed on Galak's website, if you might be interested in using those rules. I don't know if you are but i just wanted to let you know about my experience with them.

And I started playing with 3ed so I remember the cards. And I like the idea of the RE table, i think that it would only benefit the players.

I've even started a DE team (with sensible names

) in the PBeMBBL just to get some practice in.
