I am starting to get increasing nostalgia for the "original" 3rd Edition Chaos Dwarf roster, that is to say, without four-legged creatures such as Bull Centaurs and Minotards. This is mainly because CDs were the first team that I played in a league setting way back in 3rd Ed., but it also reflects frustration at the slow rate at which Bull Centaurs skill up (I acknowledge that they are one of the best player types in the game, it's just that they need 2 skills, preferably 3-4, to get there).
So I am considering (next season) playing a golden oldie CD team in our friendly open league, starting (and finishing) the roster as follows:
6 CDs
8 HGs
3 RRs
1 Apoth
TV: 100
A little lightweight, no doubt, but rather appealing, especially given their low TV. I was wondering if any kindred spirits out there have tried this before. I did so once, but only for a few games, not long enough to enjoy big handicaps or to get any real flavour.

I banged once a team like that with halflings 3 -0!! In third edition of course.
You should score with the bull centaurs more often to develop them quickly, and when Blitzing is not certain blitz a low armored adversary to get SP if you wound him,...

Worked better with 50k TRRs.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

I miss the Troll is what I miss. Minotard is just right.
Bull Centaurs skill up fine for me. You just have to be prepared to pickup the ball with them.

Indeed.Bull Centaurs skill up fine for me. You just have to be prepared to pickup the ball with them.
Play khemri for a while, then come back to the CDs.
Then you'll be used to the 4+ pick-ups, but when you make them, the ball will be on a pretty fast ST4 player

Last time I ran CDs, I started them with just one BC. He got SI'ed on turn one of the first game and BH'ed on turn one of the third game. I won all three games with a total +7 TD margin (8-1, including a 4-0 romp against a very unlucky Dark Elf squad). After that, I got another BC and had a one-two punch going... and went 2-2-1 (WTL) from that point out, with a total +1 TD margin (5-4).
So yeah, I'm positive it works. I still wouldn't do it over a long season, unless I got multiple good stat increases, or raced out to a huge start.
