Use of petty cash in a final?

Post by dines »

Hi I'm playing my dark elves (TV 2100) in the finals against a competent skaven coach with lower TV, I guess its around 1800-1900, so he will get inducements against me.
I have 260k in my treasury and might as well use some of it if it can give me an edge against him. My main worry is his gutter runners, the rest of his team is not that developed. Therefore I have thought of buying a wizard, hiring a merc assassin or hiring a starplayer to help me get rid of the gutter runners. I know that it will give him additional inducements, but I'm thinking that its better if we both have a wizard, than just him.

We have an option of keeping the team for the next season or save it for another season, so it might be useful to keep some cash reserves, as spiralling expenses take all my winnings as it is now.

My team can be seen in this thread:

I wouldn't use it. You're going to give him an excuse to load the big guns and you may regret it badly.

Yeah, he's already got more than 200k of Inducements over you, so no sense in giving him anything else for free.

I'd buy the wizard, it levels the playing field. He will not get any real big guns with the extra 150k, he already gets a wiz + babe with the 200k. Cards are too random, your wizard will be more useful, than any card can be.

Just remember according to rules stars aren't allowed in finals, petty cash or no..

I'm with Carnis, figure out if he can even take Star Players... and even then they are just one player. (unless its Morg or something)

Since he already has the Wizard, the only other thing to fear is Halfling Master Chef, so do the math out and see what he can get. If you stay under 440 by using your petty cash, take the wizard.

So at this point you're given him a re-roll and babes more? another APOTH? If he has no rostered Rat Ogre, he gets a Merc one? More line rats? None of that scares me enough to not want a wizard in my own pocket.

Thx ill think about it... Stars are allowed in our league, houserule as our Underworld team relies heavily on starplayers. But my guess is that he will induce a wiz no matter what I do.

Edit: Decided against it as his team was only 1700, meaning he could induce headsplitter and a wiz if I bought one. Now at least he has to choose...

Humiliating defeat. I had three injured player after the first half with the standing 1-1, where he started with the ball. I tried for a stall, but he quickly dispatched two of my players to the KO box and two more to the injury box. That and some crappy dice at the wrong moments stopped me from scoring and he took advantage of his superior numbers, scoring the decisive td after a long brawl at the LOS. That left me with only one turn to equalize and I tried to push my leap blitzer forward, but with too many missing players, even with a quick snap was not enough.
So the game ended 1-2 in tds and 0-4 in cas in the favor of the skavens.

2-1 is not humiliating. I lost 6-0 the other day against skaven THAT was humiliating

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.
