Underworld Blitzer, first skill, rolls double.
Pretty much what the title says. The team is pretty fresh otherwise: I got a +AG Blitzer, Block Thrower, Strong Arm Thrower, and Block Lino. On one hand, I feel the team is so light on bona fide good players it would be a shame to not use the double to add some expertise. On the other hand, I need doers, so Guard or Tackle or somesuch would be a guaranteed success.
Also, I scored the 2-2 goal in the last round by running down the field with my Troll. After he recieved a pass from a Goblin. It was beautiful.

well, in my mind there is only 1 truely excellent choice for an underworld blitzer doubling and that is dodge
underworld are happy to sit in that wonderful position of having the only mutation access player who STARTS with block
(or any reasonable amout of skills for that matter) as a result its a lot easier to take advantage of the mutation table relevent to the early skills you roll as you don't have to expend skills quite as much on getting the basics (block being the big one). in this particular situation a block/dodge blitzer opens the way for you to develop a monsterously good ball runner with access to two heads, extra arms and sure hands.
in addition this gives you an all important blodger, something the underworld tend to have difficult access to

Dodge is great. Jump Up as well, if you're going the slayer route... block/claw/mighty blow/piling on/jump up is awfully tempting, and only takes 51 SPP to get to (and then there's Horns, and Tackle...).
Given the option though - Underworld has a tough time keeping players on the table. Dodge helps you do that, and as Arklite says you can build him into an awesome carrier/receiver fairly easily.

Dodge. I'd like Side Step to play him on the wing, but truth be told your real hazard runs up the gut. So Dodge.

I think Dodge is good, because you have at least 4 Gobbos on the field at the start of any drive, so the more Skaven that can get Dodge, the better. If you were to get 2 or 3 Skaven with Dodge, that would be rather neat, and hard for most opponents to deal with. So I think Dodge is the orthodox choice.
Bear in mind, however, that as leagues mature, Dodge becomes less useful (because more opponents will have Tackle).
The alternative to Dodge is simply to ignore the double, and take a "normal" skill (G, S, M). This is quite tempting to me.
All the best.

Conventional wisdom says dodge, and I'd say it's conventional for a good reason

I vote Dodge too. And just for the sake of discussion, I'd have taken Dodge on the thrower doubles as well instead of Strong Arm.

Agreed. Taking Dodge as the first doubles pick on all the Skaven has to be a good strategy. I don't think passing skills are particularly important to this team (althoug, of course, they are nice to have).Ullis wrote:I vote Dodge too. have to agree on that point, the underworld passing game is sadly a bit limited in that the throwers are subject to animosity and its not always a sure thing to have a skaven in the open to pass to. with movement 7 and that godly skill access the thrower strikes me more as a runner style player with skills like block, extra arms, nerves and dump off being in my own personal build plan

Yep, I'm inclined to agree myself. When I started out the team, I had no idea how to play them, but getting a couple of games with them, I think Dodge would be a superior choice.

I had once the luck of Blodging both blitzers on an Underworld team, priceless...
Makes them hard to take down, makes them mobile, makes them stronger independent of the route you develop them on (killers or guarders) and you now have a majority of your players with dodge.
