4th skill for Caos Dwarf hob?
Still about this team: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=30421&hilit=caos+dwarf
This is how the team is right now...
CD 1: MBlow, Claw, Pilling On, Dauntless.
CD 2: Guard, SFirm
CD 3: Guard, SFirm
CD 4: MBlow, Guard, SFirm
CD 5: Guard
CD 6: Guard, MBlow
Bull 1: Block, BTackle, Dodge
Bull 2: Block, BTackle, Tackle
Hob 1: SHands, Block, KOReturn, ________ (?)
Hob 2: Block
Hob 3: Block, Kick
Hob 4: SHands, Block, Fend
Hob 5: Block
Mino: Guard, Block, SFirm
So the question is, what new (general) skill for hob 1?
Fend? Tackle? Strip Ball?
I dont realy like to use hobs 1 and 4 to hit the opponent unless i realy have to. They're kind of stars of the team and the ball handlers by excelence.
So that more or less would leave strip ball out of the place (yet I know I'm needing it fast).
Tackle would help against blodger catchers too, and thats a main concern as my opposing teams in the league evolve.
So would you guys like to share a thought on this?
Feel free to suggest other skills if you will.
Cheers

Seconded. In the long run it can also help keep him alive.Greyhound wrote:I'd go fend. It can save him a dodge
I like Strip Ball on my kicker, since I know I'm fielding him on defence.
I'd say Hobgoblins 2 and 5 should almost certainly go the Strip Ball, Tackle route - I assume you only field 2 Hobgoblins per drive assuming you don't suffer casualties elsewhere? I prefer to build my defensive Hobgoblins with Wrestle instead of Block.
But as far as the Hobgoblin goes I don't see anything better than Fend it makes Cage Breaking (already tough against CDs) that much harder and helps avoid having to make a dodge roll.

Fend. Not even close.
Tackle next for the Kicker and the Block guys. Follow Tackle with Frenzy or Strip Ball; personally, I'm not convinced that you need Strip Ball; your lack of AG4 means you don't want to be picking up at a penalty. Focus instead on getting the knockdown.
I always develop two Wrestle Hobs. The first one is the Kicker, because Wrestle is a good safety skill, and the Kicker is a good player for the safety position. The second Wrestle Hob follows with Frenzy.

Hobgoblins die a lot, but you go through so many that some of them live a very long time, just by chance.arthurinkpen wrote:+1mattgslater wrote:Fend. Not even close.

Is one of those BCs close to advancing? Stand Firm next for both! Bwahahahaha!

He'll be worth 120K once he gets that 4th skill, is a hobbo worth that with no doubles or stats considering you have another sure hands one?
You've got 14 players and that must be quite a high TV so dumping him could be worth it.

Re: 4th skill for Caos Dwarf hob?
Thanks for you intup!
I was not sure about Fend, but your points make sense (I realy didint/wouldnt want to be throwing blocks with him anyway).
@Mattgslater: I second you about them (hobs) living long. In fact they if the game goes the way it should (CD way I mean), they may play entire games without being blocked once.
Besides, theres usualy only 2 of them in the field so its hard to even "find" them in the pitch... (well, it might prove to be a risky tactic because if your opponent "cancel" them you might be in trouble handling the ball).
@Spubbbba: I'm afraid dumping either Hob 1 or 4, its not plan of my plans right now.
You see, in order to be able to hold the line in the entire pitch to allow me a "grind" kind of tactic (at least in defense), I tend to need all the blockers and the "big guys" to hold and injure my opponent every oportunity I have, and that only leaves me with 2 (perhaps 3) places for Hobos.
With only 2 of these guys on the table, I realy need them to be as competent as I can (and that includes Sure Hands, KOR, and Block), and that takes a lot to achieve with these fellows.
I'd rather do the other way around, and only dump one of them if any of the others end up getting +1AG or something that might actualy be more usefull for their task.
As always, thank you all for the input!

For what it's worth: Fend for me as well. I had a CD team with 3 out of 5 Hobboes with Fend, it was a treat!

Tackle. I found a mobile Tackle (or two) to be really useful for CDs (and there are much better options for your Bulls).

Joemanji - what is your preferred development path for the Bulls? Everyone seems to have their own version.Joemanji wrote:Tackle. I found a mobile Tackle (or two) to be really useful for CDs (and there are much better options for your Bulls).
