Does "mix it" basically mean play a more bashy game a la orc-style rather than an "avoid confrontation" wood elf style?
Although I usually avoid trading blows, you can group them to take out a section of the oppo and play normal Elf dodging tactics elsewhere.
The trouble I have is knowing when to leave players in base-to-base contact with opponents and when to dodge away. Obviously, you don't leave an elf next to a mummy under any circumstances, but I tend to use the general guideline of always dodging players away no matter who they are next to. (Except the obvious situation when you are next to a ST2 guy - then you clearly bash him.) The trouble is that this leaves my opponent perfectly free to move his players wherever he likes, whereas I end up using lots of re-rolls on Dodge rolls.

I desperately need that positional tactics guide!!!

The secret is to minimize both the risk of turnover and vulnerability in your next turn. So if you only have 1 die blocks available then dodge one of them out to make a block 2 dice, then the push from that should allow you to make another 2 dice block.

Code: Select all

O_OO_
_123x
_____
O = opponent
1,2,3,4 your elves.

So dodge #1 to the "x". Then each of the other elves makes a 2 dice block on the opponent facing them.

Instead of 3 1/6 chances of failure, you have one 1/6 and two 1/9. On top of which you've got 2 chances to put your opponent on his arse.
