Calling all Skaven tourney players
This is my 1st tourney, and I know I won't win it, but I don't want to make a complete fool of myself either.
My team is:-
2 Stormvermin
1 thrower
3 GR
6 linemen
What skills should I take?
I was thinking Block on the GR's, 1 SV with Guard, and 1 with MB.
Anyone with tourney exp care to respond.

You being serious Grumble.
Not played that many games with Skaven (though tabletop I'm 2-0 with them), so would this be an acceptable skill to take?

Kick is a very good idea.
I'd also think that Accurate on the thrower might help your game alot. Makes the short pass range a regular 3+ with Pass RR risk.
IMHO, Block is not that all important on the gutter runners as many of the opponents' players will also be Block-less. If the opponent has Block, the chance he has tackle as well is quite high (Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs, Blitzers with 1 Skill added).
I also think that MB might not be a good idea on the SV (I've always thought of that skill for SPP gathering mostly), strip ball would be my choice to counter the opponents' Blodgers, as the gutterrunners are quite good at picking a ball in a TZ and wooooosh ... off they go.

I think that sums it upDeathwing wrote: *...waits for Marcus' predictable post....*

My progression at the Spiky!, for your reference:
Game 1: Kick on Linerat
Game 2: Dirty Player on Linerat (fouling casualties scored Tournament Points)
Game 3: Guard on Storm Vermin
Game 4: Guard on Storm Vermin
Game 5: Block on GR

Mike, another ECBBLer was giving JJB some advice last night.Longshot wrote:??is that true?
you didnt get any sprint on GR?
I will not give more advices cos i still dont know if i will take them...
Just as in race selection - play your own game. Okay, look for tips etc elsewhere, but there is no "right" way to play skaven, or any other race. By playing to your own strengths as a coach you will do better than slavishly following someone else's advice.Marcus plays his own game his own way. This is different from the way most people play BB. If you copy Marcus's team selection and skill selection you have to really understand how Marcus is going to play and play the same way.

Skills for rats:
Have to throw my 2 cents in here. I totally agree with Ian, though I guess I have a different outlook on the BB tourney than some of you. These tourneys, being full of rookie teams with very little substitutes, are all about the numbers game. ESPECIALLY with rats, since they get hurt so easily. So if you can hit 'em hard and fast, and end up with a few extra players than your opponent, you should score/win. Then again, if any team gets up a few players, they are at an advantage.
So given my roster (Anthony posted it above), here are the skills that (Kolja &) I took:
After game #1: Block on the Rat Ogre
#2 Piling On on the only Storm Vermin
#3 Dirty Player on a Linerat
Since I've only taken part in 4 game tourneys, the rest would be gravy to me. Kick might be an option after this, or another Dirty Player. Scoring is easy with rats, but you gotta remain on the field to do it!
