Lizardmen tactics wanted

Post by Heiper »

Well, I have a coach in my league that play lizzies, and he's got problems getting used to the style of play they need. So far he has played 6 games and has only 2 wins the other 4 he lost (two times against my dwarfs).

This is a pretty fresh team as you can see, played 6 games. But to help him out I wanted to start this thread so he could hear from some of the very good Lizardmen coaches I know roam this forum. So here is what he would like to know:

1. General offense tactics (lineup would be a great bonus)
2. General Defense tactics (lineup would also here be a great bonus)
3. Skill choices, including what you would do with Upgrades
4. Anything else you come up with that would be great to know for a Lizardmen Coach

As you see, no point in Starting Roster as he already has one, but about everything else would be great for him, so he could test it out a few times in some friendly games. I told him before we started the league that Lizardmen are not easy to coach if you don't know the style, so he needs that little push to get into the Lizarmen thinking.

If you are up for some typing, please reply :D

Could I ask you to do a search for those first? There have been a lot of Lizardman tactics posts in the last 2-3 months. Check the archives first, let us know how you go, and we'll make suggestions/corrections from there.

(Trying to cut down on repetitious general tactics requests)

I did a search on Lizardmen, and it found ONE thread. Maybe I just can't use this search menu, so if anyone else find it, could just post a link.

And to Ancalagon, you don't need team composition to give general offense/defense tactics, but here it is:

01. Saurus -
02. Saurus - Block
03. Saurus -
04. Saurus -
05. Saurus - Block
06. Saurus -
07. Skink - Dodge, Stunty, Pass, Niggling
08. Skink - Dodge, Stunty, Catch
09. Skink - Dodge, Stunty, Catch
10. Skink - Dodge, Stunty, Catch
11. Skink - Dodge, Stunty, -1MA
12. Skink - Dodge, Stunty
13. Skink - Dodge, Stunty

RR - 2
FF - 9
And he has an apoth.

Hope that helps.

you don't need team composition to give general offense/defense tactics
Sure you do. Because his roster says alot.

Lizards shouldn't be passing (at least not regularly enough to need the pass skill...with team rerolls available, accurate would have been much more useful). Sure hands is a much more needed doubles choice.

Too much catch to start (probably related to trying to pass). Catch is only good for skinks to reroll a handoff. Instead, start taking sure feet and run circles around people.

With a 13 man roster and an apoth, his real need now is rerolls. No sure hands, little block, and lots of dodging skinks burns through the rerolls too quickly.

And the tired refrain, break tackle for the next Saurus or two that get 6 SPPs.

You're right - the search option still seems to be a little wonky from the reboot. I was able to find these threads, which are more or less on topic.

I agree with H&M that the roster tells a lot about the team. Skill selection so far has been pretty good, and I really like the Catch skill on three Skinks. It gives a lot of upfield options, and Skinks break easily. I would highly suggest that you get Sure Hands or Kick for your next doubles on a Skink. Break Tackle is a must on your next two Saurii. The guys with Block should probably go for Guard as their next skill. Buying rerolls is also a high priority.

Thanks for the feedback this far. Got a bit on skill choices now, but how do you guys go on offense drives with them? Cage, pass or run game? Defensive formations thats working well with them? Things like that would be nice to get too.

Skummy, didn't seem like your links worked. I dunno if threads got deleted after all that server problems this forum had a little while back, but it does look like it.

They used to work until johnnyp did some changes yesterday. Use the search option and go and look for the threads again there are loads of lizardmen tactics pages, with lots of discussion on them.

The seach option still seems to be having some problems, but I have updated my previous links. I hope you can find what you are looking for there.
