Black Orc 3rd skill *double*
I have a Guard, Block Black Orc who has just rolled his third skill and its a double. Ordinarily I would have almost ignored it and just tossed up between mighty blow or stand firm but it happened just as I am going into the leagues semi finals.
My team is: http://brawl.bloodbowlleague.com/defaul ... =ro&t=bad2
Opponent: http://brawl.bloodbowlleague.com/default.asp?p=ro&t=dem
Now if I win this game I will be facing either Dark Elves (TV150) or Skaven (TV200) in the final
As such I am a little unsure of how to skill him
1. Mighty Blow - just try to clear the pitch to help me with numbers
2. Standfirm - Always helps with positioning
3. Diving Tackle - Stops him from trying to be cute with his blodging warriors and will help a lot if I win for the final (takes me to 2 diving tackle Black Orcs)
4. Jump Up - Helps mobility and to build another 'killer' player this time with S4
Game is being played this weekend

I'd agree with Matt, but I've heard LOTS of people say that: "Sidestep is a poor doubles choice when you have access to standfirm."
Diving tackle works well in pairs. That might be worthwhile. Getting marked by a S4, block, guard, diving tackler will be a headache for anyone...even a chaos warrior.

Re: Black Orc 3rd skill *double*
I would not take a double on a BO until 5th or 6 skill and it would really be dodge to help him stay alive longer as they can be a pain to level up.
I personally would take Stand Firm a guard BO.
I usually build my BO as follow:
2x: Block, Guard, Stand Firm (they never get much higher as they're not good to pick SPP, if I ever managed to go higher i'd take Grab)
2x: Block, Mighty Blow, Frenzy, Stand Firm. I like Frenzy on these guys as they are perfect to push opponents aside and tough to push back. The crowd loves my BO, they keep shouting "Send him this way!"
Before you point out the Move issue. I rarely blitz with them. I use the other orcs which come with "blitz" in their name.
May I suggest you fire your Zogwot Whodatz (the thrower). He's going to keep picking up SPP and with AV7 will be a liability. Take a new one straight away before it's too late! You can handle the ball fairly well with AG4/Sure hands.

ST4+Diving tackle+Guard is actually a very good combo.
He´s difficult to take down and difficult to run around.
If they try to blitz/block a player next to him instead, he will lend an assist with guard.
I'd take diving tackle.

I do like the idea of side step
But greyhound does makes some good points.
Do you belive that a versatile guard assist will help your other players pick up s.p.p faster than that one piece will reep the rewards from mighty blow?

+1 for DT. If you're afraid of Claws, then dodge is not out of the question either.

Dodge. You're then only one skill away from the incredible ST4-block-dodge-guard-Stand Firm combo.

You've got two guys with Block and Guard. Side Step would let you bog down the LOS even against heavy teams. It would also mean you don't have to run out and get Stand Firm for them next if you don't want to. With your two SS Blitzers, you'd basically have an inverted-wing D, like elf-style. That's sweet.

I think that a single dodge would be REALLY easy to deal with. Unless you see yourself picking up ALOT more dodge, I'd stay away.

Side Step is a great choice
Side Step in combo with Stand Firm players are evil to face.

Why would you have both? Isn't that a waste of spp and TV?

It's a waste on the same guy. But having a lot of both on the same team is awesome. For one thing, it confuses and flusters opponents, who aren't nearly as used to remembering who is who and which player has what as you are.
