vault con teams
I am thinking of going to vault con next year. So whilst I am on a break at work I thought I would see about what team I want to take.
Two teams came to mind. Ogre's or chaos pact.
Ogre:
5 ogre (2 x break tackle, 1 x block, 1 x sure hands)
9 snotlings
1 coach
3 rerolls
Pact:
1 ogre (claw)
1 troll
1 mino (claw)
1 dark elf
1 skaven
1 gobo
6 marauder (leader, 1 x block)
1 fan factor
1 coach
1 cheerleader
3 rerolls
So what do think?

you get to many breaks at work ?fire olli wrote:I am thinking of going to vault con next year. So whilst I am on a break at work I thought I would see about what team I want to take.

Supposed to be playing undead all next year, however having just got an Orc team (Neomics) back from painting (Cornish Mikey) they are a possibility, also using (probably) underworld at Newport in Feb, if they perform then maybe...
Building a "new" dark elf team (and knowing how much you enjoyed my last one) thier always on my shortlist..
in answer to your question (at last) Ogres can be fun, only tried Pact once and couldnt get it to work right for me (to many big guy rolls failed) maybe if you could squeeze 4 RR it would be ok?

Re: vault con teams
I don't think chaos pact work at all well as a tourny team, great league team and a 3DB said there the best blank slate team, but with no starting defensive skills and 3 loner pieces I think your better of taking ogres. But don't expect to win by touchdown without first causing huge casualtys (I think you need a piling on piece)

Most people using Ogres dont expect to win, they just love using Ogres, neither team mentioned are ultra competetive TBH..arthurinkpen wrote: But don't expect to win by touchdown without first causing huge casualtys (I think you need a piling on piece)

Ogres for the Win!
I think your build is solid and two BT pieces gives you the options you need. Pile-on is great but I wouldn't take it ahead of any of the skills you have already chosen.

Re: vault con teams
Right, I've paid up, so I can resurrect this while I decide what to bring
Choice 1: high elves.
2 blitzers with dodge, thrower, 2 catchers with guard, 2 normal catchers, 5 linemen and 2 rerolls.
Or maybe skip the guard and get some more dodge...
Choice 2: chaos.
4 warriors (probably boring skill choice of 3 block and 1 claw) mino + juggernaut, 6 beastmen, 3 rerolls, cheerleader.
Choice 3: flings!
Deeproot, 2 trees, master chef, 10 flings and 3 rerolls comes in at 1120, leaving me 80k for skills... maybe a HMP fling for a laugh and a couple with diving catch.
Choice 4: chaos pact.
All the big guys and renegades, 5 marauders, 4 rerolls. Goblin with big hand, skaven with wrestle, dark elf with dodge, mino with juggernaut, and something else on someone else... (no real need for leader with 4 rerolls
)
Choice 5: elf.
2 blitzers, thrower, 3 catchers, 6 linemen and 3 rerolls. Skill-wise I'd probably not look beyond block/wrestle on catchers, or dodge on catchers and blitzers.
So...
High elves would be easiest for me as I've always done best with AG4 (something about my play-style probably
)
Only the high elves and chaos are currently ready to go, though the flings are almost completely painted, just need bases and numbering I think (though I do have dryad minis instead of normal treemen
)
Chaos pact would be most fun of these options but (a) they're only half painted and (b) I've never played them before
And elves are the team I currently get most practice with online, but I need to paint 11 of the players to be ready
I'm tempted by halflings, but mostly because I'm worried if I take a "real" team I'll get battered by the other stunty teams going

Re: vault con teams
Sir Pugsley is a 'fling fanatic. He's sculpting a special stunty trophey for this tourney, so it will be highly contested.
That being said, you should bring whatever you're most comfortable with.
