i bought a troll for my or team despite the entire league asking me why oh why i would take a troll over an ogre. for as much as i use him, he almost never fails his really stupid roll and with as many position players as i have on the field at the same time( 4 black orcs and 4 blitzer's, one of which is st4), i almost never miss that little lineman with block i stick next to him.

I haven't really had this problem. My first couple of games I messed up but after that it was quite easy.Zombie wrote:Indeed. My chaos dwarves often (maybe 4 or 5 times a game) have to send someone next to him to explain a couple things to the big dummy (called Dumdum btw), effectively wasting a player wo could ave done someting more useful. Really stupid is much worse than i thought before i bought te guy.
- Try to have someone next to him at the end of my turn.
- Move someone next to him who is already doing something useful
- If I can't get someone next to him do nothing. If you don't try to make an action you keep your TZ and remain an effective roadblock.
I've found that TR200+ teams make no money, so 20k can be quite a lot.

Gotta agree with ianwilliams. I've had orcs with ogres and orcs with trolls. Trolls usually fit the bill better if you aren't going to use goblins. Never had the problem of wasting a guy because usually the troll is on the line with the BoB's. The blockers act as his Really Stupid coaches and a 5 man line of ST 4 and 5 is pretty brutal.
Really Stupid can be a pain if you are using the troll in your backfield. I have fallen into that trap acouple time. Basicaly if the troll is anywhere but right in the thick of things he's a 100K turd but when he's in the fight he's a 100K bargain. In the middle of a punch up he's the same as an ogre but 20K cheaper.
Ogres are slightly more versatile but on my orc, chaos and chaos dwarf teams they usually don't need big guy help in the secondary. B uy a troll, put him on the line and let him kill things.
