6 + 4 on a +AG block nurgle rotter
Hi
I just rolled a non-doubles 10 for a nurgle rotter "brian" who has +AG and block (and a niggle).
What suggestions do you have for skills?
+MA or +AV sound good, but so do tackle, fend, big hand, and others.
Team is the Rusty Cage.

Any suggestions welcome.
The next few games are likely to be against Necro and Wood Elves
regards

Re: 6 + 4 on a +AG block nurgle rotter
+1 for Big Hand.
He is so slow that +MV will mean little. 8-AV is fine, even with his Niggle, and giving him 9-AV would mean making more of a brawler and that wastes his 4-AG..
That 4-AG is key, obviously, and his next skill should compliment it - so Big Hand! His job should be to grab balls off the ground in a scrum. He'll already be close to said scrum and can gather it up for a 2+ with Big Hand and then Dodge out into the open (hopefully) for a 2+.
Usually, Nurgle are fine just bogging an opponent down and keeping the ball on the pitch with little hope of scooping it up and scoring defensively. With your Block, 4-AG, Big Hand Rotter, you would actually be able to turn a ground ball scrum into a defensive TD. Congrats!

I think you should make him into an Ace type. Rather than making him good at picking up or receiving, use him for a little of both. I'd be tempted by +MA, which will help him a lot in his role of delivering the ball in the cage. But Big Hand definitely has its merits.

I would be tempted to take +1MA. This player can expect a short but happy life. I think he looks like a ball-handler, with potential uses as:
- Receiver, especially when you need to score in 2 turns.
- Cage corner, ready to take a hand-off when the ball-carrier is in trouble, then to make a pass.
- Surprise thrower, taking a hand-off and passing when your opponent does not expect it.
For these uses, +MA would appear rather good.

Thanks everyone for the advice.
In the end I have gone with the +1 MA.
The rotter will probably die soon but hopefully I will be asking for advice for his next skill.
Cheers

I am late to the party for my two cents I think you made a great choice. On a team like that the extra little speed helps a ton especially if he is going to do some running or passing for you. He can easily score in 2 turns now instead of having to make several extra square rolls. Good luck with your new toy

Re: 6 + 4 on a +AG block nurgle rotter
After 1 game a semi final I am satisfied with the choice. Brian scored 1 of the 3 touch downs vs a necro team.
after that game I gained two skills +1Str on a rotter (the second rotter with +1Str)and a normal skill on a + 1AG sure hands, Block, Pestigor.
The Pestigor skill is a tough choice, this Pestigor is my ball carrier at the moment, along with 'Brian'.
With GSM access the choice is not simple. fend and foul appearance are probably the two choices I am leaning towards.
Very long legs and hoping for a double leap next would be great but maybe I'm dreaming.
Any advice is appreciated. I have a long term plan for this team and will play at least 20 more games.

I'd give the +AG pestigor Tackle. You don't have any and with Tackle he'll be a better safety on defence. And since you're facing Necros and elves next, Tackle is guaranteed to be useful right away. +AG and Sure Hands should be all the skills he'll need for offence, although I'd take all stat increases (+MA obviously over +AV).

I'd take Stand Firm. Not as good as Fend for a ball-handler, but has some comparative advantages (like you can't get pushed out of your X-cage) and better on defense or after a handoff. Guard is another good option.

Re: 6 + 4 on a +AG block nurgle rotter
I would pick Kick-off Return on the Pestigor with little hesitation. He would be able to retrieve the ball and then either keep it safe (out of range of the opponent) or distribute it into a cage with a quick pass or hand-off.
Your team would also be good for scoring in 2 turns, with this guy as Runner/Thrower and the J-Up Pestigor and MA6/AG4 Rotter as receivers. That is a rare and valuable strength for a Nurgle team.
I would emphasise speed of ball movement with this team.
Hope that helps.

The ma sound fine on this ag4 player. In fact with the niggle I would be tempted with just block and see how long he lasts
