Doubles on a Dwarf Blitzer
Only other upgrades on the team are Block on a Runner and Mighty Blow on an Slayer.
Dodge is the knee-jerk reaction but I can see value in Jump Up and Diving Tackle as well.
Does anyone have some experience with this?

I'm not a dodge picker unless almost every body can have it (on a double for saurus, human, skaven)
On a dwarf blitzer I would pick Side Step then Fend as next skill with guard as 3rd.

Dodge is the most popular pick, however, the most effective pick that I have seen (I speak as an opponent) is Sidestep. One team I remember had Sidestep on both Blitzers. They owned the wide zones.
All the best.

I second sidestep.Smeborg wrote:Dodge is the most popular pick, however, the most effective pick that I have seen (I speak as an opponent) is Sidestep. One team I remember had Sidestep on both Blitzers. They owned the wide zones.

When I played dwarves, the blitzers often went with the rolling cage up the field and they often had guard. Guard/Sidestep is great.

I agree with MeatLoaf. Dodge is an excellent option but Sidestep would be fantastic as well. Wait for a Lineman to roll doubles then take Diving Tackle.

Is Side Step really better than Stand Firm for the Blitzer?

I raised the same question in this thread viewtopic.php?f=25&t=32512 and Matt explained quite clearly why Side Step can be a better choice than Stand Firm.reservoirelves wrote:Is Side Step really better than Stand Firm for the Blitzer?

Re: Doubles on a Dwarf Blitzer
Side Step is better on the outside of a formation. It's really great to have two guys with SS to provide a frame for your defenses. On the inside, there are relative ups and downs, but it's sort of a wash. This advantage in the wings is a big deal for Dwarfs, because wide speed plays work well against Dwarf defenses. Yes, you can set up deep to take care of those, but then you lose the ability to play at all proactively. Dwarf teams are optimally suited to take advantage of any strategy that denies wide action and forces the opponent to play for centerfield. Many of the best ways to do that involve inverted-wing formations, and Side Step is a prerequisite for any kind of effective inverted-wing play. One advantage to those formations is that the flankers are protected, letting your comparatively fast Runners hang out in the wide zones and minimizing the risks of getting your AG2 players locked out of the action.
Also, Side Step is very good for creating smaller formations, like an outer "bailey" around your X-cage to foil leapers. Stand Firm works there too, but SS'ers can cover more space. Additionally, it makes it easier to make Frenzy-based O-line chains for extra blocks, because the second block, the one that pushes the defender across the LOS, can go straight into your SS'er (unlike on a Grab block), so he can SS forward, saving you one hit and potentially advancing a free assist into place to boot!

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Side-Step is a good choice for positioning purposes, naturally, but might be a little superfluous if you have lots of stand firm already..which you don't. At this stage, Side-Step is probably the choice, but I've had some fun with Jump Up and Piling On on a dwarf blitzer. Its merits are obvious.

Disagree. Stand Firm doesn't hold wings like Side Step does. Stand Firm is better for holding interior strong points: Side Step is good for funneling your opponent's guys into the Stand Firmers.Wanchor wrote:Side-Step is a good choice for positioning purposes, naturally, but might be a little superfluous if you have lots of stand firm already...

Which just goes to show how poorly people understand Grab.

grab is not underrated, its problem is it only works effectively when blocking and its a huge disadvantage.mattgslater wrote:Which just goes to show how poorly people understand Grab.

That must be the case right? Matt is a misunderstood genius in his application of Grab, and every other person who plays BB is wrong. Seems the most likely scenario.mattgslater wrote:Which just goes to show how poorly people understand Grab.
