NAF Chapionship Halflings
Hi, I'm thinking I may take Halflings to the upcoming NAF championship.
What would be a good build for TV105?
It's 1 skill gain after each match (no doubles) so what skills should I be thinking about?
I've never played or played agains 'flings, so i'm completly green to them, if I still like the idea in 2 weeks, i'll start playing practice games with them.
Any advice and encouragment very welcome!

Re: NAF Chapionship Halflings
It's a skill before each game.
I can't remember if we are allowing Star Players, I think they did in previous years. If so you could go:
Deeproot (300)
2 Treemen (240)
Chef (100)
11 Halflings (330)
1 Reroll (60)
20K spare
A bit balls-out but if the Chef works you should be laughing. Or perhaps:
Puggy (140)
2 Treemen (240)
Chef (100)
13 Halflings (330)
3 Rerolls (180)
A safer roster with a bench to 16, and all the rerolls mean you'll be able to get your Treeman more involved.
As for skills, you'll want to skill the Treemen first. Break Tackle is good on them, or perhaps Juggernaut. After that Halflings with either Side Step or Diving Tackle.

Re: NAF Chapionship Halflings
I must have misread the blurb on thr NAF site. Does that mean a Skill before the 1st game or will the 1st game be vanilla?Joemanji wrote:It's a skill before each game.
Why break tackle on the trees? I was looking at grab. is this some major schoolboy error?

Re: NAF Chapionship Halflings
Before each game including the first.
Grab is a marginal skill at best. Better on Treemen than most other players if they are rooted, but Halfling Treeman can reroll Take Root so you should be aiming to not root early in a drive.
Break Tackle is great on Trees because:
1) If your opponent marks your Trees with a zombie each then he can just play the rest of his team against Halflings only. BT avoids this.
2) You can go into a cage with effective AG6 and ST6. Ball carriers beware! Even if you don't do it, the possibility increases the Treeman's radius of threat.

No starplayers though, but the chef will probably be allowed, as will bribes for gobs.
At least the organizers are thinking about it. You should/could either visit the NAF forum for that, or try and convince Dave with a very well written PM that you really like to have the 'Flings to have their chef.
But I think he's quite busy at the momet, so you might need some patience.
Cheers,
JaM
(for me it's probably Chaos Pact or Ogres though. Hope to see you there

Re: NAF Chapionship Halflings
OK. So I'm thinking, seen as I can't have Stars:
2 Trees (240)
Chef (100)
14 'Flings (420)
4 RR (240)
50 left over for CL/AC?
I'm sold on Break Tackle, the idea of sending the Trees into a cage is cool.
Then Diving Tackle on 2 'Flings and SideStep on 2 more. The tournie's 6 games long, right?
Bit of a kicker not being allowed Stars, if I cant have the Chef either, i'll drop this and just play Vamps instead...
Also, this might be the wrong Board but, do you or anyone you know have 2nd ed' Halflings for sale?

I think he means the NAF Championship in Nottingham in May, not the WC.JaM wrote:No starplayers though, but the chef will probably be allowed, as will bribes for gobs.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Yeah, the NAF Championship is the successor to the BBGT, at which IIRC Stars were allowed. We are trying to maintain as much continuity as possible with GW's event.

From the NAF Championship thread:
Pippy wrote:The rules pack will be published in a few days.
It is ready and waiting to go live. I'll let you know now that "All inducements are permitted except Special Play Cards and Team Wizards", but you will have to wait until the rules pack is final for the rest!

Re: NAF Chapionship Halflings
Is it suicidal to go in with a small bench and no Re-Rolls?
Deeproot (300)
Puggy (140)
Tree x2 (240)
'Flings x9 (270)
Chef (100)
105 on the dot!
Might be putting too much faith in the Chef.

Thing about 'Flings is that get scary when you have loads of rerolls to spend on the Treemen.
