Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Tier 1: Amazons, Chaos Dwarfs, Dwarfs, Orcs, Skaven, Undead, Wood Elves. The best teams for beginners are Amazons, Orcs, Skaven, Wood Elves. Chaos Dwarfs and Undead are matchup teams, and Dwarfs are a one-dimensional cage team, so these take a season or two to get good with. Orcs and Undead are sort of a special case, in that basic and advanced strategies are often radically different, while the other ones pretty much play the same way (only better) in the hands of a more experienced coach. I think Wood Elves are the single-best team, hands down.
Tier 2: These teams respond like the best, but only with veteran play: Chaos, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Necromantic. Beginners will lose with these teams, while veteran coaches can get really, really good with these teams. I'm inclined to put Slann here, too.
Tier 3: Teams that are good enough, but aren't really among the best and don't need advanced play to be all they can be: Chaos Pact, Elves, High Elves, Humans, Norse. Of these teams, a rookie coach can make hay out of any except perhaps Elves and Norse. An experienced-but-not-veteran coach can quickly pick up the gimmicks of those two teams.
Tier 4: Teams that a veteran can make something out of: Khemri, Nurgle, Underworld, Slann, Vampires. Slann almost make it to Tier 2 for me, but even when they're done right they're random and particularly subject to early maulings if the first few 3+ rolls go awry. Khemri feel kind of closer to Tier 3, in that a rookie will still do a lot of the same things as a veteran, but getting maximum mileage out of unskilled ST5 often requires tricks that have to be learned.
Tier 5: Teams it's hard to win with: Goblins, Halflings, Ogres. That said, I had to retire my D-league Halfling team because it was breaking everybody's ego (6-0-0, allowed two TDs in all six games, sometimes against serious teams, though with a MC and Deeproot (or at least Willow) in those cases; by contrast, my Orcs this preseason are 2-1-1 against similar opposition).

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.
Dwarves are fantastic at what they do. They BASH! However you have to get used to the positioning of them. I think they are a good beginners team but you need a few games with Orcs or Humans first to get the basics down.

I've been thinking about how annoying it would be to have 11 Block, Tackle, Guard, Stand Firm Longbeards. Mighty Blow to the interior ones and Diving Tackle to up to 4 that get doubles to play the wings. And one Runner to play offense (and possibly defense vs. AG teams).
The only way to even move them without a Ball & Chain is to break Armor (10+), and then KO or Injure them (9+). If I'm doing that math right, that's less than a 5% chance, *assuming* you knock them down, which isn't very easy when they have effectively 5 ST (granted, they all have at least 2 skills, so the opponent should have some Guard by then too). (edit: or Blitz with a Juggernaut. also, Claws makes the Armor break easier)
I just finished listening to the ep (to take notes on what I messed up and how I can improve future shows) and it turns out we earned an Easter egg. Craig sometimes places audio goodies after the credits and this ep has one.
Enjoy! Or avoid, depending.

Even you learn something listening to your own show!
A show on Tiers (should we have them, where do the teams fit in them?) would be excellent.
I think a practical beginners guide to Blood Bowl might be something productive as well. Not so much a guide to how the game works, (how to play), but instead a guide that looks at how to get into it, what you need to play Blood Bowl, where you can get it, etc, etc. I've been thinking about doing an article on this on TFF for some time now, but it may be the sort of thing that'd benefit from the Podcast medium.
Just listend to the new podcast on tiers(6-2-2011) great stuff, its nice to put a voice to plasmoid finally and I'm glad to here that galak was willing to contest the wardancer even if the BBRC didn't want a change
Though I never want to have to face retro khemri, they sounded insane. More importantly, after watching wood elfs dominate at casenwydd I'm also glad to here that they are veiwed as a bit OTT statisticaly. Damn cheesy elfs.
Now do chaos dwarf 2.0 if you would be so kind.

seconded on all points, I think I played a couple of games with that Khemri side.... they were evil.
As some of you early birds have already pointed out, the new ep is up! Tom (GalakStarscraper) and Martin (plasmoid) take time away from their Super Bowl Sunday to discuss the Blood Bowl Tier system with us!
Man, I love the Khemri even more now...
