Bad Mist Rising - a chaos WIP

Post by Darkson »

I started this team, as I was going to be taking it to Spiky (or Exiles, depending on what we do) later this year, but plans have changed. However, I decided I wanted to try and get them finished anyway. Of course, I didn't want a bog-standard team, so my clubmates challenged me to actually to some (basic admittedly) converting.

So here goes - please be gentle - I've only been gaming 20-odd years, but I suck at anything modelling!
(And apologies for the quality of the pictures - it's an old camera, and not even mine!)

3 of the 4 warriors - the one in the middle is waiting on a tail, and probably some greenstuff on the shoulder:

Team captain (centre), and 2 of the 3 markers (3rd will be a pile of skulls):

Beastmen:

Head coach - couldn't bring myself to convert this classic figure!

Paint scheme is (hopefully) going to be Slaaneshi based (pale pinks, blues etc), and I should be getting an old Keeper of Secrets (the original version).

I love those CW's.

I have always though the beastmen from fantasy were the best around.

What's with the maurader with the night skaven claw?

Looking foward to seeing these guys painted up.

Always intended to have Ungors mixed in with the Gors, then decided to make some of them half-breeds (which gave me an excuse to mix and match from different plastics). Compared to some of his team-mates, he's a little weedy, so needs some bigger "permissable weaponry" to try to even the score.

It is sand.

They're going on black bases (like this team) to match our 4-way board, and this is the way he did his, so who am I to argue.
I think he sands his teams going on grass before undercoating to.

Depending on the color the sand will be, I've sometimes flocked then undercoated as well. I think (though this may be just wishful thinking) that it helps hold the sand on better, and makes it a lot easier to paint depending on your starting --> final color for the base effects.

Wow, some nice classic minis there, is that the impact! mutation sprue you used for the mutations? Or something else?

yes, it's the Impact! mutation sprue, the lowest selling item in the Impact! store in fact - at least we now know Simon was the guy who bought it..

my monitor still makes it look like there is green through the sand, but if it is just sand, and will eventually be painted up like asphalt, then I retract my earlier remarks - I don't often use sand these days (makes the base unstable for the ball to stay on in my experience) but when I used to use sand and gravel, I would apply it before undercoating most of the time..

That's where the Impact bases and magnets come in handy (that, and that a couple lean forward and tip over...).

Missed this one completely.

Congrats, like it a lot.
Would you be able to post a pic with the Fimir next to the beasts (for size comparison)?
