Starting an Orc team, what lineup?
Hi all
I am thinking of starting an Orc team in the near future, I'm sure there have been a load of similar posts before but thought I would ask again . . . what should I start with?
I am thinking:
Troll, 4x Black Orcs, 3 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 2 Goblins and 3 Re-rolls
or
Troll, 4x Black Orcs, 3 Blitzers, 3 Linemen and 3 Re-rolls
I can see advantages for both. I certainly want to start with the Troll.
Any pointers greatly received
Thanks
James

Beause you want to start with a troll maybe consider dropping a bob and taking the 4th blitzer. The teams weakness is it's slow so losing on of your fastest guys won't help. That and you would lose the ag3 and block. With all the non block hitty guys I think you would want as much block to start as possible.
I kinda like the 2 gobbo's.

Your best players are Black Orcs and Blitzers so starting with all of them I see as a must.
Troll 4 BOB 4 Blitzer 1 Lineman 1 thrower 2 rerolls is 990.
This gives you the best possible players to start with and a decent shot at 40k winnings for another lineman (my choice) or an apothecary after the first game.

This, except I'd take the Apoth first. Or take 2 linemen, no Troll, and 3 TRRs.Jimmy Fantastic wrote:Your best players are Black Orcs and Blitzers so starting with all of them I see as a must.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Re: Starting an Orc team, what lineup?
4 Black Orc Blockers
4 Blitzers
3 Goblins
4 Rerolls
This is a cheesy build! After first match you can kick goblins and add journeymen. 4 rerolls for black orcs to brawl. If you start in a all brand new rookie league, this build is awesome as it is. Blitzers have block, Goblins have dodge and Black Orcs have ST4.

Re: Starting an Orc team, what lineup?
Thanks guys
I always like to start any team with 3 Re-rolls (apart from WEs and DEs).
Will I manage ok with only 2 for the first few games if I take one of the following:
1 - Troll, 4 BOBs. 4 Blitzers, 2 Goblins, 2 Re-rolls and Apo (1m)
or
2 - Troll, 4 BOBs. 4 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 1 Goblin, 2 Re-rolls (980k)
or
3 - Troll, 4 BOBs. 4 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 1 Lineman and 2 Re-rolls (990k)
Or I could go for set up 2 but replace the Goblin with a Lineman?
I like the idea of Goblins in an Orc team and would certainly have a couple on the bench in the future if I didn't start with them, but if I went for a 2 Re-roll build, would I be better going for an all Orc line up.
I think that no matter which option I went with I would save for a 3rd Re-Roll straight away as having 3 really makes me feel so much safer
Thanks
James

Re: Starting an Orc team, what lineup?
With Orcs you are realistically looking at either 3 RR or the troll.
Taking the troll depends on a number of factors, personally I prefer the 3RR build.
1 Goblin is probably all you will need, considering 1 troll 4 BOB 4 blitzers 1 thrower 2 linemen 1 goblin is 13 men.
Of course if you like goblins then by all means take a few but I think the list I posted earlier is optimal if you like the troll, option 3.
I think it's optimal to start all orcs, goblins work best as bench options.

I've run that 3-Goblin roster. I found it surprisingly effective, but I missed my Thrower.

Re: Starting an Orc team, what lineup?
I hardly ever start with a Troll. Normally I'd go 4 BOBs, 4 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 2 line orcs and 3 RR. IIRC that's 980 or 990. Buy the apoth, troll for 12th man, then a 4th reroll. Maybe a goblin and 2nd thrower to make 14.
The 3/4 goblin starting lineup isn't too bad, but LRB5/6 doesn't give you the same benefit of that starting model you used to get in LRB4 since after about 10 games you've typically got more cash than you know what do with.

Blocking too much, actually. I don't like having to TRR pickups.DoubleSkulls wrote:Passing too muchmattgslater wrote:I've run that 3-Goblin roster. I found it surprisingly effective, but I missed my Thrower.
