WD Ag5, PB, NoS next skill?- Aka Worst Team EVVA!!!?
]So I have a WD with M9 and SB
My other WD had Ag5, NoS and PB.
Ponder SS or Tackle next.
Opinions? Suggestions?

I have absolutely no problem with trying out skill combinations in order to see if they work. if they don't, hey it's just an elf. they die soon enough neh?

Wrestle and tackle is a great combo on a WD but I have no idea what to take after NOS and Pass Block !

Catch I guess, if you're going to build him for interceptions may as well go the whole hog. He will be almost the ultimate intercepting machine, though I guess an AG6, NOS, PB, catch, VLL gutter would top that.Jimmy Fantastic wrote:Wrestle and tackle is a great combo on a WD but I have no idea what to take after NOS and Pass Block !
No one will dream of throwing or catching the ball within 3 squares of him. I just hope your league is elf and pass heavy.

Re: WD Ag5, PB, NoS next skill?
Side Step over Catch. It still has combo potential, for using PB to mark the receiver if you can't get a zone on the ball.
Pro over Catch too. Helps with off-turn Leaps, at least as valuable as its utility on Catches. Also works when you go to blitz with him or scoop up the ball in multiple TZs; when you need a 2+ leap, 3+ pickup and 2+ pass, that added Loner RR after your rostered one (or when you don't have it) can make a big difference. I'm not normally a fan of Pro, but this is the kind of guy it really excels on.
As much as I like Tackle on Wardancers, I'd go a different route here. I'd take a lino with Wrestle, then Tackle, then Frenzy, in lieu of a Tackle Wardancer, and I'd try to make sure I didn't peak out with too many positionals, possibly 2-3 Catcher/Thrower types.

Wrestle on a WD? Unless my opponent had no more turns left I would never lay my WD prone. Who would pass on the opportunity to kick a WD? I know I wouldn't.
Wrestle for a catcher built as a saftey, great skill. Just not a WD, who already starts with block.
Diving tackle is a option but I like ss the most.

Pro eh... I hadn't considered that...
Food for thought.
As I said in the first post, I'm already biased for T&SS, but I'm beginning to lean towards SS first.
Sfter that though, T, P, DT, Shadow.. Hmmmm Probably won't live that long though
Catch I dislike, it's already 2+ in all situations but an actual intercept opportunity, and passing will not happen close to this gal. Wrestle, again, not on this gal, if your'e prone you can't PB, so that would put a bigger target on her, and provide a way to pass.

Standard playstyle in the more aggressive fumbbl woodie coaches nowdays is Stripball, then wrestle, then tackle.. This way even against a surehands player -2die you have a 1/4 chance of freeing the ball.Urb wrote:Wrestle on a WD? Unless my opponent had no more turns left I would never lay my WD prone. If you have a reliable player to pickup with (AG5 anything), then that wrestle just won you a game. The WD may well die, but hey it's just 31 spps for another beast like that..

Re: WD Ag5, PB, NoS next skill?
makes sense. Seems like much of the skills queries are for fumbbl team rather than TT these days. The nature of fumbbl, people playing so many games, I guess losing a player isn't a big deal. All this talk about keeping your TV down so you can play in the zone where your team performs.
I generally base my recommendations for TT leagues where games are generally limited to 20 or less per season and you don't have the option to pick your opponent.
I'll have to keep that in mind from now on.

It's applicable for TT as well, though, isnt it?Urb wrote:makes sense. Seems like much of the skills queries are for fumbbl team rather than TT these days. Hmmm I think it's a huge loss if you lose a WD lets say 5 games into a 20 or shorter game season. Tough to recover. Not saying you can't but tough. Really depends on your league. As previously mentioned, in my league once a season is done we start from scratch with new teams.
Fumbbl on the other hand is endless.

She did level after tonight's game, and I did choose SS.
The league I play in allows you to scrap a team after each season(2 matches against each opponent) or continue with what you have.

WTF... you mean Wardancer? Sorry guys but this must be a joke or the 'worst advice ever'... that trumps any of mine!Arngrim wrote:So I have a WD with M9 and SB

Er.. one WD with AV8! Suppose Strip ball is ok.
AG5... is good, NoS (WTF) Mighty Blow! then tackle, Sidestep shadowing.
I have to WD tacklers they annoy the opposition's dodgers.
IMO WDs need durability ie +1AV

I agree with you that NoS is an awful choice and do like MB on a dancer.Smurf wrote:WTF... you mean Wardancer? Sorry guys but this must be a joke or the 'worst advice ever'... that trumps any of mine!Arngrim wrote:So I have a WD with M9 and SB

But AV8 doesn’t add a huge amount to him, it makes him slightly more survivable but he’s still going to get fouled into the stone age at every opportunity. MA9 is great and adds to his mobility which is more likely to help keep him alive than AV8.
I don’t rate shadowing much either, diving tackle is better but a bit risky on a wardancer as I generally like to avoid him going prone.
