Tackle not Diving Tackle.

IMO the AV8 helps with some of that leaping stuff. IMO MA9 is not a great improvement on a MA8 Blodge player anyway.

C'est la vie...

Spubbba is right, no point wasting it on a +av. +ma wardancer is just too good on a WD it makes pinning him down ever harder and makes scoring OTTD easier.
Ma9 is a lot better than ma8. That makes him as fast as a Gutter Runner. Amazing stat increase imo would always take it.

I can't believe that WD has NoS though :o

oh, I just noticed he has pass block as well :o

Yeah, if you want Wardancers with Nerves of Steel, play Pro Elves. Then people will stop laughing at you. +AG, Block, Dodge, Leap, Pass Block is a fine track on a Pro Elf Catcher, but Nerves/PB/+AG/skill (not just Catch) is a travesty on a WD. Imagine how wicked he'd be with a good skill and Guard or MB. Or heck, Nerves and Strip, or even Strip and Dump-Off! I'm not recommending Dump-Off; it's almost as bad as Pass Block. But at least that "combo" has all the theoretical fearsomeness and at least one skill that you might eventually use. Dump-Off's not so bad if you're AG5, though you'd want to get him Pro on his next skill for sure.

That said, it is what it is. Don't sell out to double-down on your mistake; instead take a good skill that works well with what you've given him. There are several, and this guy will get lots of SPP with or without the wasted value.

Congrats on the +MA for the other Dancer. I don't know how anybody can pan +MA on a Wardancer. Get Side Step on the next skill, and you can 1TTD with the greatest of ease. Got a Tree? Get him Grab, at least as a #2 skill. With a Grab Tree and a Guard Lino, you're 19/27 to set up the chain you need for a 1TTD, with no TRR. Then it's just a matter of a 2d or 3d block to get across scrimmage. Even if the second block is a knockdown, you still get a blitz. And you can set up a third block on a "both down" result (assuming both have Block; they may opt not to use the Block skill). Without a Grab Tree, you have to blitz your way through to it (or use the unreliable Frenzy technique). Still, this sometimes works.

Seriously?

You do not need a 1TTD WD. They blitz and stuff, creating TD magnets is daft. The games I'm playing in I want some more Armour for WE. When you have about half a dozen MB players knocking your scrimmage line done you tend to want that basic protection. Same with the WD, his mobility is also the ability to leap and a flubbed roll really hits home on a AV7 player.

Mind you a MA9 WD would make an excellent shadower, especially with sidestep and tackle. Glue to a player and if he dodges away... you follow!

Like MA9 has no other purpose on a ST3 Blodge/Leap player... just pointing out the most obvious of many gimmicks.

That's kinda the point...with ag 4 dodge, and movement 9, he has more mobility so doesn't necessarily need to leap. For example, he can blitz the backfield better, do a blitz on the left of the pitch while not leaving the right open to attack, after being knocked down, if AV isn't broken, completely catch up and blitz a mv 6 player who blitzed him down to move away...there are many uses.

Also if you say you want av8 on him to help protect him against MB players, it really raises the point, why are letting him get hit, especially by players with MB? Use your linemen as a shield against your WDs and Catchers at all times. They should just wait until your opponent leaves a gap for you to exploit then pounce with your good players. Ma9 will keep him a live longer than +Av in my experience, especially in these times of Claw MB being so easily attainable. It means you can run away further, reach places where you cannot be caught, just like a Gutter Runner can.

Also you should always hope for a one turn specialist in teams like wood elves. Preferably you get 2 +ma on yor catcher but since this isnt guarenteed a wardancer can do the job perfectly well anyway.

My two cents: kudos for taking some alternative skills. My vote goes on sidestep for the pass blocker. All the better to mark people with. Although shadowing would likely be interesting too.

Yes, seriously!
I chose SS in the end, and will probably follow up with tackle, or Guard.
I have heard so many speak against DT and PB, so I have two PB's now, it will either work, or I will lose, retire them and redo.

Or they will be retired for me, like my Blodge Lino last game.

I have alway's lked testing theories myself, rather than just accepting the general knowledge as gospel.

I'm not saying the the PB/NoS haters are wrong, just that I like to try the less travelled path every once in awhile :-)

Current team:
Tree, Block
WD M9, SB,
WD A5, PB, NoS, SS
Cat Bl, Lea, Pb
LElf Kick
LE
LE
LE Leader
LE Guard
Thr M6 SH, Acc
Cat, av6

Probably a good exericise in the end. I'm sure the results will be as predicted but it's good to have first hand practical knowledge behind the theory.
