Re: 6+4 on a BC in a short format
I voted block.
This past Sunday, I had my own BC level up and take Block.
In two games he's scored once, and caused three CAS without Block (one Dwarf, and killed two Witch Elves).
At this point, until my other BC gets his first skill, I'm using this guy more as a hitter than anything, so I took Block. The TD he made was more situational than planned, and he's gone down a couple of times for the lack of Block, so I wanted to shore him up in that regard - if your opponent likes to foul, the BC's are not a piece you want on the ground.

Took Block. Can still change mind until Thursday, but probably won't. Part of it was watching Malmir replays. Verbal Kint was an SPP hog until he hit 31, but even in the games where he got his TDs, a) MA was only occasionally useful, and b) he seemed to take both-downs a lot more often than GFIs. He did rocket quickly, but he seemed to be strongly aided by an early MVP to get him Block right after getting his +MA.
I had sort of a revelation. The way I see it now, Block is useful on about 1/6 of all blocks for and against (3, 6, or 7 out of 36... 9 on active blocks vs. Dodge w no Block), and +MA is useful some fraction of the time (1/36 for 7 squares to 1/1 for 10) whenever moving 7-10 squares is more desirable than moving one less square. Blocks for and against are far more common than any given precise movement range, and with Sure Feet the Block skill is more likely to be used in each potential instance unless the player really needs that 10th square.

Yeah that was my reasoning Matt, If he didn't start with sprint and surefeet it would have been a more difficult choice.

I hate to sound dull an predictable buit block really is that good. It saves you, it puts people off hitting you potentially, its safer for actions, it makes 2d against viable, certainly 1d is an option. All in all the most basic skill is very good in so many ways.
I honestly am not a dull player by any means but you just cant go wrong on a block pick on a valuable player.

I don't think either of these choices is wrong. Block may be better, but MA is good on this player; if I'd gotten the 10 at 31 SPP, I would not have hesitated.

Also, you'll play faster if you give him block.

Two new coaches! Good news: both want to play Orcs! So I'm teaching my buddy JJ on Orcs vs CD next week! Good matchup for the Greenies, me having only one Bull right now.

Why am I not suprised? I don't know what it's like down on the south coast but here way up north atleast 1/2 the people play orcs. Nothing else. Orcs.mattgslater wrote:Two new coaches! Good news: both want to play Orcs!

With us, it's Skaven. So, being the only Orc coach down here, I'm very happy to have some newbie bashers.

Re: 6+4 on a BC in a short format
Halftime in one of the newbie coach's teaching game. He has one of the other coaches of the league playing "guru" for him, explaining the situation, laying out his options, helping him sequence everything; in practice, the new guy has mostly just been making a few decisions and rolling the dice, and I'm playing against an old hand with rookie Orcs. The Block BC has rolled skull/both twice, once for a Cas, and snaked on a GFI. So either would have been useful so far but I think that the first half has favored Block (not that this is a sample of anything).
Score is tied 1-1; I received, but couldn't keep the pressure back and had to score on T6. His 3TTD was kind of improbable, but he pulled it off, so good for him. I'm kind of glad to be running a 13-man roster, as I have a MNG guy and a KO who didn't recover.
