matt's right. There's also extra training though, wich means if you have the cash, you can buy a reroll for the normal price.

Some cards are indeed too much, we've taken some of them out though. But losing a rr kinda sucks.
I had a starting chaos team once with 2 rerolls. got hit with bad habits first game, rerolls were 70K then IIRC for chaos. Still did well though, just made the threat "well, I might as well just bash your team. picking up a ball is certainly too dangerous for me... :orc: "

@Narg: CP doesnt suck, but you need some luck sometimes. And, in a league, some skills and 3 BGs help a lot. However, I dont have the skills (on the players) nor the 3 BGs.
And perhaps I need some better tactics to tackle this.

Might I recommend paring each deck down to 27 cards? No advice on what to include in each (beyond 2x Extra Training), you'll have to work it out. But a little advice on what to take out:
Robbed or Bankrupt
Bad Habits
Peaked !)
'Flu Bug

I think you can leave in a little "bad stuff" like Injured in Practice, Sorry!, A Better Offer, and either Robbed or Bankrupt. You probably also want to filter out some useless cards too (Sewer Map), but leave in ones that are just underpowered, like Snack Break.

robbed and bankrupt are already out, so is peaked and some other cards that dont "work" anymore.

Might do the same with bad gabits though. I really hate the card. If it was just for 1 game, okay but permanent really sucks :).

Flu bug... not sure, have to read it. Got that one too some time, on my just skilled mino (i.e. he cant compete throughout the match, right ?). Sucked.

I've been in your predicament. We ended up just going to straight LRB6. One guy refuses to play LRB-anything and insists on houseruling 3e to perfection, so we lost a coach. He doesn't believe us that the new rules are better, and seems to have become convinced that we're pod people or something. He's been playing Cyanide on his own, and his arguments against the new rules are (mostly) getting more and more technical, almost to the point of being comical. (My favorite: "Sprint instead of MA9 totally adds a skill to the Wood Elf Catcher, because now you can't take Sprint. That makes the team too good.") Though I think a couple houserules, and maybe better (reworked) cards, may be warranted.

Come to the dark side, JaM. Join us. Seasons don't fear the rulebook, nor do the wind and the sun and the rain. We can be like they are!

Can't say I fully understand but my reasons to play is to hang out with buddies and enjoy the day. Other is to maintain history? I don't know of a better way of saying it. I do miss rsc with claw. hehe.

I miss those permanent card effects. -TRR would be awesome in some leagues.

CDs. Use tackle and try to not let them stall.

A mb Po player also works wonders at bringing the elves to a unplayable team. Regular hitting on av7 skill less players tends to be something that ruins games for me as a we that I thought I had won almost in the first quarter. We are weak with a lean team and can loose to any race when that happens

Matt: we use "CRaP" already, in our small gaming circle of friends THAT alone was a huge step up for some :) But definatly for the better.

I'll have a talk with him about the cards though, I've been burned too oten with bad habits. But extra cash was always nice (nr. 1 with a bullet, merchandise,...) or the odd extra player (that boy's got talent ! got me a wardancer on my DE team).

I'm still not sure though. CDs may be nice, but perhaps I should try the experienced Pro-elf team I have,... Something about giving him a taste of his own medicine. And it would be nice to score a TD once in a while.

CDs would be the 2 bulls, 5 CDs, 4 hobs, 3 RRs team with 20K in cash, right ?

That is the "orthodox" starting roster, I believe. However, there are others. My current team started with:

Minotard, Bull, 5xCD, 4xHG, 3RR (TV100)

In the past, I have used the following starting roster:

Bull, 6xCD, 6xHG, 3RR (TV100)

Both seem to work fine.

Hope that helps.

I'm trying this roster out now, and I have to report that it feels kind of suboptimal. Not terrible, but even if you do a good job with the BC you still have fewer options. Good for early fouling... if I had it to do over, I'd take only 5x Hobgoblin and keep 40k in the bank so I only need to earn 140k to fill out the basic team.

Taking 1 bull and 6 dwarfs, worth it vs Woodies ? Wouldnt a 2nd bull be more usefull ?
Like the dwarfs, wouldnt you want one from the beginning to skill it up asap ?

I've decided to put the pact on hold for now though. Unless I can have a good chat about some of the cards and the way we will work out inducements. But I'll probably give CDs a shot. See if I can cage a bit, and al that.

edit: and thanks all for the advise and feedback. Although I feel I should give it a shot one more time, I am done with the Pact for now.
Holding them off for now will hopefully refresh my interest in playing them at some tournaments this year (T5, Bubble, NAF WC).

If I'd built my CD team for use against good competition, I'd have taken two Bulls. I think that's what I was trying to say. I tried out running one Bull. You can definitely win with it, and the extra bench and 6th Block guy definitely is worth something, but there's a reason most coaches go for two Bulls.

2 bulls it is then. Thanks :).

Besides CDwarf linemen are good out-of-the-box anyway. Best linemen there are :). But that is (or rather, was) another discussion. 8)
