We don't bother with over time. I guess cause it's not specifically stated in the rules you should. There's a time issue for us as well. It already takes about 3 hours per game and we like to get in 2 games a session. 6-7 hours is long enough as it is.

So what I think I'm saying is, we're too lazy to play more than we have too.

Interesting because the rules state a draw means both players 'win' so to speak.

We normally play it for a league to get positions and the joy of victory!

Normally take a draw in a friendly, did play in a tournament which allowed o/t, was a big time issue.

I suspect that in North America, because draws are rarer in RL sports, there may be a preference for overtime, whilst in Europe people are happier just to stop.

If I'm not mistaken, the rulebook says OT occurs IF both players agree to OT. Personally, I'd never opt to play OT, but not for either of the reasons the poll lists.

Since the first score in OT wins the game, it mostly comes down to who wins the flip to receive the ball during OT. Who wants to turn a tense, close 3 hour struggle into a coin toss? It feels cheap if you win possession and unfair if you don't.

We don't play OT, mainly because of time constraints. However, I did play in a league in England in which we played OT. I thought it was great. But that one league was the only time I have played OT apart from tourney finals.

We incentivise wins by giving 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw. But that's not as good as OT, IMO.

#2, but we use O/T for the play-off games.

I dont want to open up another claw-debate here, but overtime favors bashing teams. The numerical advantage after playing 2 full halves will often be huge. Giving the bashing teams the option to just bash at the end of 2nd half instead of trying to score is not desireable if you ask me.

In playoff-games where you have to find a winner OT is needed but other than thats its a no-go

Play overtime in cups but not in plain league games.

Ticked yes but it's as per rulebook, so only if both coaches agree unless it's a finals game in which case you have too.

The horrid implementation of overtime in the Cyanide game certainly favours bashy teams when they're in possession after T16. They get an unlimited amount of time to systematically clear the pitch of all opponents before they even consider moving the ball one smegging inch.

Overtime should be 2 halves each, with 4 turns. roll who kicks first, etc. That's the most fair one to me, although to can lead to a draw... :)

Both Thunderbowl (40+ coaches) and Rat City (30+ coaches, both are scheduled leagues) don't play OT in regular season games but use it for playoffs/finals.
