Re: human blitzer first skill
Yes dge on double. I'd go with guard on a normal roll...mighty blow and tackle are good 2nd skills (do 2 with each perhaps)kaboom wrote:dodge on a double?
mighty blow or tackle in a normall roll?
Having 4 guys with guard really helps humans hang in there with a hitting team, and means you can REALLY dominate an elfy-type team with blocking.

???
I just gave my Human Blitzer Strip Ball (the roll was not a double). I thought him to become a "shock trooper". Very often the opposing catcher/ball handler with dodge is in my half and I try to block down the sucker but too often he just get pushed back and scores the turn after.
I did not give him guard. I want my Linemen to have guard bc my Blitzers are ussualy doing the Block (bc of block skill) and I want my Linemen to assist him, not the other way round.
Is my approach dull?

it's not dull, it's just that you'll need a lot of doubles to make it work. Linemen only get general skills, blitzers get strength skills, so they don't need doubles for guard. Anyway, don't you give the linemen block as their first skill? you were talking about your blitzers like they were the only guys with block. Give it to everyone!!narkotic wrote:???

I forgot that linemen won't get guard easily. But I won't give strip ball to more than one blitzer anyway. Currently I have 3 Blitzers and the one with strip ball will be defensive. Either getting the opponents catcher down when their in my half or if the situation should arise, making a short blitz forward towards the ball keeper to slow/break the opponents offensive drive.
A Blitzer with Block/Strip Ball will make opponent catchers drop the ball on any result except pure skulls. I think its a good emergency brake to prevent the opponing to score.
For the other, offensive Blitzer I have to make up my mind...

I don't take strip ball too much anymore anyway, especially not early on. I'd much rather take steps to make sure the player just falls down, then you don't have to worry about it. it's always better to knock someone down than to push them anyway, which is why skills like tackle are much better.
not to say i don't ever take strip ball, i just think it's overrated.
