dines - I suggest 2 Babes are much better value for this match than an Apoth. You have little to lose. Babes work on Stars, too (Apoths don't).

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
Strongly disagree. You've got 4 or 5 (no MB or MB) perms to get your Thick Skull guy knocked out on an injury roll, vs. 3 or 5 perms (half of 10+ or 9+) to take a Badly Hurt. So you have between 75% and 100% of the chance of taking a BH. Apoth on an early BH always works. You also may suffer some Hobgoblin KOs, but the antidote for that is just having enough Hobs. 2x Babe on KO works 1/3 of the time (roll a 2 or 3). Yes, Babes may work on multiple players, but the odds you'll roll 2 or 3 on two KO recoveries are low, especially when you're considering grind teams that won't play many drives. Besides, if you suffer an early death, you'll be really glad you had the second Apoth. Then you use it on him, and use the other one normally.Smeborg wrote:dines - I suggest 2 Babes are much better value for this match than an Apoth. You have little to lose. I'm on Matts side here, I would definately go for the babes if it was my dark elf team though. I can now confirm the ST6 claw jugger mino, so even Morg is an easy target

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
I've decided to go for a mixed approach inducing Hthark, Nobbla, wizard, apo and a babe.
The babe was just for the leftovers and I think that nobbla might be more useful than an extra reroll - or at least more fun.
Its a bit annoying that I can't afford a bribe to go with the chainsaw, but with such slow teams the drives might take some time anyways.

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
Despite being severely outbashed I won the game 2-1. The wizard, who secured the 2-0 at halftime, and Hthark for general awesomeness, saved the day. I managed to do 3 casualties compared to his 8!! Luckily only two dwarves are out for the next game and no perm injuries. Two dwarves got their first skill - guard on both and a bull got his second - now block and break tackle. I finally scraped together the gold to purchase the fourth reroll, but I can only field 10 players for the next game, so I'm considering to buy two hobbos instead.. Don't know who I will meet next time, I have yet to face a fresh human team, a fresh chaos pact and some developed necros.

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
Played another game with the team, now against (almost) rookie chaos pact. I started with the ball for the first half, which was one long drive almost to the endzone.. No cas on either side. Next half he recieved and was able to score by turn 6, leaving me with 3 turns to equalize. His troll got hit by a rock and his Ogre double skulled leaving an open lane for one my bulls to run down the TD in the last turn.
Ive found out that I'm really struggling to keep the dwarves in action, they tend to be left around LOS, while the action progresses somewhere else. In the last game I only fielded 4 and at least two were holding some big guys away from the action, so its not all bad. But I can really feel that I'm used to playing elves teams. Guess I should go watch some c dwarf replays on fumbbl...
The last two upcoming games in the regular season is against a nasty necro team (1600) with a mb wolf, st4 blodge, ss ghoul and block on both flesh golems and a rookie human team. I'm definately not looking forward to another game against claw..

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
Played the last two games in the regular season. Managed to beat both the necro and the humans without major problems except loosing two dwarves against the humans, one of them with guard...
So the first three dwarves are at 0 spps. Future skills in (). Regarding the second skill on guard dwarves I'm torn between sf and mb. The only games I've lost in the regular season was against developed norse and woodies, so mb might be the best choice there, but next game is most likely orcs or chaos, so there sf might be better... Regarding bull skills its also difficult, I've scored most of my tds with them to get bt and block, but now they can stand on their own. I was about to buy the fourth reroll, but think I'll skip it to keep my TV down.
Bull block, break tackle (guard/sf/mb)

3 rerolls

Take MB, better than SF vs all teams.
Also by taking MB it gives you a chance of Clawpomb if you roll a double for him.

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
My thoughts were:
Mighty blow on as many dwarves as possible. This will keep them earning so to speak.
Maybe a couple of guard but if the Mighty Blow dwarves get a second skill then go guard.
If you do get a touch back, give it to a dwarf to saunter up the pitch with his mates.
Maybe it should be:
MB, Guard, SF, PO and Claws on a double. Make them the armoured cage from hell! Of course it will require combos like MB, Claws and PO.
So thinking it about it any thing that removes the opposition from the pitch ought to be great. Maybe Guard is not so great first skill for CDs?

Guard is a must have on at least 4 dwarves as a first skill. MB does no good when you play against stronger teams. MB does no good when you have to throw -2d blocks.

Yeah guess a mix of guard and mighty blow for the dwarves is the way to go...
What do you suggest for the bulls after block and break tackle? Guard, SF, MB, sure hands or something completely different?

Re: Chaos dwarf defensive setups and other silly questions
After a bit of thinking I went with mb for the dwarf and will take guard on the mb dwarf unless I roll a double, I feel the need for some more guard and the skill-less dwarves are all at 0 spps.
Regarding the bulls I'm still undecided, but leaning towards mb for them as well. After the first game in the playoffs vs. either developed orcs or chaos its most likely all soft teams with AV7, so plenty of mb is nice.
Yes frenzy is cool, but we have quite a lot of side step in the league and the rest of my team is slow... so it might backfire.
