Re-branding the bloodbowl Grand tounament
Why was the Blood bowl Grand tournament re-branded as the NAF Grand tournament? Was it legal? Or was it the NAF just stroking it's ego? S.

Re: Re-branding the bloodbowl Grand tounament
"For Legal Reasons" is the mantra here. Blood Bowl is a Trademark of GW, so to say it's 'The Blood Bowl' when they're not in control of it is, y'know, not right, IP-wise. But it was allowed to be 'The NAF Championship - a Blood Bowl tournament.'
Gives them some more fluff to not put in if they decide to do a CRP2

Indeed, GW would not allow us to call it the Blood Bowl (it was never the GT).

Re: Re-branding the bloodbowl Grand tounament
IIRC it started as The Blood Bowl, back when it was run (or co-ordinated by) Fanatic. It may have carried the GT subtitle, but the tournament carried the roman numerals in line with the fluff, and teams names of the winners actually were incorporated into the fluff history in past LRBs as winners of The Blood Bowl. The trophy was created to resemble the Blood Bowl Trophy itself. I believe they may have stopped using the Blood Bowl Trophy when the event was taken over by the events team with the demise of fanatic.
So it was The Blood Bowl. The roman numerals, the history and the intention were always intended to make it so.

Not sure what you mean by this. NAF staff put their hearts and souls into organising a premier tournament for it's members and it was amazing.Blammaham wrote:Or was it the NAF just stroking it's ego? S.
The staff were selfless in their time and effort- to even suggest that the NAF has "an ego" is pathetic.

Cheers 'Jaw!
It's a fair question though.
We were taking over the running of the event and wanted continuity. GW had objections to the use of 'Blood Bowl' and also 'GT'. We would have ideally wanted to use 'The Blood Bowl' but we respect their position.
Though the intention was not at all to "buff the NAF's ego", I actually think it's great for the community to have the name of the NAF next to such a big and important tournament.
I think The NAF Championship is a great new name and reflects the new life we've breathed into the tournament. We're in the process of booking NAF Championship II next May, hopefully things will go from strength to strength!

Well iirc from the fluff, the Championship Tournament of the NAF before it's collapse was The BloodBowl. From its announcement, I thought it was a cunningly implicit way of saying the same thing.Pippy wrote:

And Pippy, the NAFC was easily one of the best tournaments that I have been to. I know that I will definitely be attending the sequel along with tatsujin (who feels it a matter of honour to cash in his last place prize of free entry and prove that he is really not that bad at the game!).
