MVP After Assassin Card

Post by flash »

Hello,

my opponent got the 400K card Assassin yesterday as inducement and took off a player with it in pre-game. Just that player got the randomly MVP on the post match.
Desperate Measures Card / Clubs Jack
Assassin:
You team hires a trained assassin to dope a vital player from your opponents team to force him to miss the game.
Play during the pre-game after all inducements are purchased.
Pick a player on the opposing team. He must miss this game.
MVP Rule
Most Valuable Player (MVP):
One randomly selected player from each team who was eligible to play during this match, even if he is now dead, is awarded a MVP award at the end of the match.
Was my player now eligible to play or not?

I would say no. Because the assasin card puts him in the same bag of players that are missing the game.

Fluffwise, the assasin most likely didn't wait until the game started before injuring your player. It is more probable that he snuck up on him the day before while he was....let's say training for argument sake. And therefore was not eligible for play.

But there is the arguement that he was factored in when TV's were used to factor in the inducements so I could see how you could argue that he is elidgable. If he hadn't been available to be doped they may have doped someone else or chosen to spend inducements on something more devastating that distraction in itself could be counted as valuable.

Eligible play means able to be put on the field at some point during the game. He was never able to be put on the field so no he could not get the MVP.
