Ripper! Ripper on a developed Orc team is pure evil!

But you should kick his butt. Make him pay for taking Passblock over Claw!

He'd be fearsome if you were an elf team. But as is, just don't get outcoached. Coaching skill discrepancies tend to overpower matchup issues. Play conservatively, block hard, early and often, receive if you win the coin toss, and you'll win.

What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

On closer inspection, one of those "pass blocks" is actually block & pass... I think.

Either way, this pact team doesnt look like it is built for bash, so I would try to emphasize your strength and grind him. Ripper could help even out the big guy playing field. I can also see the Halfling chef as a good idea as well, as his team is lacking a little on re-roll skills and looks like he wants to play a bit of a passing game, which will inherently eat more dice.

So Ripper for bashing, or Chef to counter a riskier playstyle.

He's very, very vulnerable to Ripper-based Grab chains, and you have a Frenzy player to save an action on the same, along with sufficient Guard to ensure 3d action the whole way (unless he wants to set you up to foul his Minotaur). He has no positioning skills, and doesn't have the personnel (mobility, strength) to account for a line-chaining.

One advantage he has over you is your lack of Tackle or Wrestle. He's got a Blodgestepper, and this guy will be hard to deal with.

Matt, it's slightly off-topic, but I cannot visualize those chain grabs you keep talking about. I'd love to see a Playcreator illustration of that play, if you have the time. Or maybe you could just point me to a thread where thiskind of play is discussed in greater details.

Thanks,

mattgslater wrote:The most economical looks like this.
g = Grab, takes an action
u = Guard.
a = anybody, takes an action.
b = somebody scary, preferably with Guard and ST4+.
c = warm body.

– – a – – – –
– g u – b c –
– x – – – x –

1: g blocks left end.
– – a – – – –
– g u x b c –
– – – x x – –
– x – – – x –

2: a blocks left end.
– – – – – – –
– g u a x c –
– – – x x b –
– x – – – x –

Fait accompli.
If your defenders set up 2-squares back, you need one more guy to act, or two more guys plus a Frenzy, with no extra actions.

– – a – d – –
– g u – b c –
– – – – – – –
– x – – – x –

In that case, step 2 ends looking like this:
– – – – d – –
– g u a x c –
– – – x x b –
– – – – – – –
– x – – – x –

Letting d block the end into b, pushing him ahead.

Alternately, if a has Frenzy...

– – a – d e –
– g u – b c –
– – – – – – –
– x – – – x –

Step 1 is the same, and step 2 is really 2a, because Frenzy guy will get an extra block.

2a:
– – – – d e –
– g u a x c –
– – – x x b –
– – – – – – –
– x – – – x –

2b:
– – – – d e –
– g u – a c –
– – – x x a –
– – – – – – b
– x – – – x –

If you don't mind using 8 men on the line, and the right end doesn't have Stand Firm, you can push him away with your center and follow before Grabbing with Ripper, thereby opening a hole and maximizing the number of available blocks.

Lower-middle of the page, with a slightly more complex version on the next page showing how to do it against midfielders placed two squares back.
Ace thanks a lot!
