Empty / cleared field
Are there any special rules about what happens when one team has been completely removed from the pitch? I seem to remember something about awarding a touchdown to any player on the "surviving" team, but perhaps this was a league rule.
Also, what happens if there are no players from either side left? Do you advance to the end of the period, or start a new drive right away?

Re: Empty / cleared field
When one team can't set up any players, a touchdown is awarded to the team with surviving players, a turn is marked off, and the setup goes on again, hopefully bringing in more players from the KO box this time.
Both teams can't field...hm. The odds of this happening are pretty slim. I don't think there's a ruling for it in the rulebook, but I imagine the turn track would advance by one and both teams would try their KO rolls again with no TD being awarded.

Re: Empty / cleared field
So in the second scenario (which I realize is very unlikely) the half would just end.

Re: Empty / cleared field
There aren't any official rules to handle it (where for example a both down got rid of the last 2 players on the pitch). I can't recollect ever hearing of it either (and if it were possible you'd think FUMBBL or Cyanide would have had it by now
)
In the unlikely event it does happen I'd just start a new drive with the team that received kicking.

isn't it two turns?...Wanchor wrote:When one team can't set up any players, a touchdown is awarded to the team with surviving players, a turn is marked off, and the setup goes on again, hopefully bringing in more players from the KO box this time.

yep.. page 15
"In the rare even that one team has no players to set up after KO'd rolls, both teams' turn markers are moved forward along the turn track two spaces and if one team could field at least one player then that team is awarded a touchdown (however, no player receives Star Player Points (see page 25) for this. If this takes the number of turns to 8 or more for both teams, then the half ends. If there are turns left in the half, then continue playing as if a drive as just ended (i.e. clear the pitch and roll for KO'd players)."
and this actually answers both questions.
1) if one team can't field players, then advance the Turn markers two spaces, since a team has players to field, award that team a TD ....
2) if one team can't field players, then advance the Turn markers two spaces, since both teams have no players to field, no one gets a TD...
(even us veterans need to check the rulebook from time to time...)

Re: Empty / cleared field
Two turns, brutal. Shows how often my league needs to check that rule.
So...let's say this happens on turn fifteen, then. Is the TD still awarded before the game ends?

yep.. you move the turn marker, score the TD, THEN check to see if there are turns left in the half.

Re: Empty / cleared field
So if the team without players had 1 turn left, and the team with players had 0 turns left, the team with the players would still get a TD, correct?

Re: Empty / cleared field
can't remember exactually but it said some about taking you to 8 or more turns and I cannot remember the exact results of that segment.
DO NOT quote me but if BAD memory serves the team that can set up still scores.
I have not been successful at searching anything on this search engine that was remotely close to what I was looking for

Re: Empty / cleared field
yea. I quoted the rule above:
Separate sentences, indicating to do one, then do the other, in steps.
indicating you move the Turn marker and score a TD (if eligible)..THEN it saysIn the rare even that one team has no players to set up after KO'd rolls, both teams' turn markers are moved forward along the turn track two spaces and if one team could field at least one player then that team is awarded a touchdown (however, no player receives Star Player Points (see page 25) for this.
to check for end of the half.If this takes the number of turns to 8 or more for both teams, then the half ends. If there are turns left in the half, then continue playing as if a drive as just ended (i.e. clear the pitch and roll for KO'd players)."

Re: Empty / cleared field
Yes, Xeterog, that is how I interpret the bit of the rules you quoted. I guess it is broadly analogous to scoring in the opponent's turn (more akin to that than to a one-turn-score, anyway).
