new slann vs necro

Help guys, I have my first league match vs a necro team. I am struggling to think what would be the best starting roster. I am going to have 4 rerolls and as many catchers as I can afford. I am really scared of his werewolf though chewing up my team.
Any advice?

I am going with 1 krox, 3 catchers, 7 linefrogs and 4 rr I think. Any helpful feedback?

Control midfield. Go after the position players. If you knock down a Were, Wight, or Ghoul, foul him! If you're getting your butt kicked, foul anyway.

I think you should consider a Blitzer, both because you want to give them maximum opportunity to improve, and because you want to man one up on a Ghoul or Were. Linos on Wights. 4 RRs, 1 Blitzer, 4 Catchers, 6 Linemen, 10k Treasury.

Ok, if that didn't scare the bejeezus outta ya'... here's what my best opponents do to confine my Necros:

Give the Werewolves something to do:
A loose werewolf is dangerous, so tag him with a player and, if you can afford it, put another one in a position to take advantage of Frenzy.... Make it where the werewolf would have to either dodge (1/3 failure on a dodge-less wolf) or risk a 1d block into a 1/2d block....

Concentrate on the possible ball carriers!
If you start taking out ghouls and wights, then it's up to his quirky werewolves (take them out too, if possible) and inept/slow zombies/golems.... The real threat, on offense, is when the Necros can pop the ball loose and scoop with another Ag3, fast winger.... The exercise becomes much tougher as positionals start filing up the KO and Injured parts of the dugout....

Look for a "Frenzy-proof" setup on kickoffs!
Give a werewolf a chance and he'll show you the stands in a hurry! Watch for the Frenzy blitzes off the LOS and be careful lest you protect and totally give up the sidelines....

Ghouls are lightly armored fools!
If you have nothing better, and sometimes if you do, blitz the ghoul(s).... They have the lightest armor and NO REGENERATION!

oh well, got thumped 3-1. Nuffle hates Slann. First kickoff, went short due to changing weather. Given to a flesh golem. 7man cage. walked down the field to score.
Next turn my catcher got it. Ducked into a screen. A lineman had to do a successful 2 dice block to clear one zombie out of the way. 2/2 reroll >2/2 again. Turnover and the screen is now useless and my catcher gets piledrived. Another touchdown for the enemy.
Their turn on the kickoff. Again it goes to my catcher, kick off result (they get a blitz). Surprise!!! Carnage. We recover and run it for a TD.
My turn to kick, goes high. Given to werewolf who blitzes down the line and scores.

I learned a few things. Slann need LOTS of rerolls. Look out for chain frenzy bashing you into the crowd. It sucks when players die. My next game I have only 2 catchers, 1 krox and linemen.
Second thing I learned, sometimes getting in the way is enough to slow an advance.
3rd thing, gang fouls are cool.
4th Leaping is cool but it won't win games all by itself.
5th Trust my linemen more.
6th Slann are not that fast (fast enough but not unstoppable).
7th Slann are not flawless cage breakers.

I will have to see how the next game goes. I did have some pretty crappy luck but I think I was just outplayed by a competitive team that used it's players better than I used mine. I like the Krox. Only player to score a cas and as good a roadblock as you could ask for. I would like a plyer with guard though.

It made me laugh... it is a shame I couldn't give the filthy necros the thrashing they deserve. My fault for not listening to the really good advice I got, especially about werewolves.

So to win with Slann- your keys to victory are:

1) Don't leap.
2) Don't dodge.
3) Don't block.
4) Don't GFI.
5) Anytime you have to break rules 1-4, burn a RR.


I love my Slann team. Never a boring match. (Okay, 3 boring matches out of my last 80. But who's counting?)
