Chaos team, lots of inducement money
I've got a game coming up in my other league, with a beat up chaos team.
I'm currently at 1680 with 12 players. The Mino is MNG, and -ST so I'll replace him at some point.
My opponent is Skaven at 2320 or so with a +ST RO and a pack of +ST GRs.
My best beastman is Block, Tackle, MB - so he is built right for this game...but the rest of my team is pretty undeveloped.
I could replace the Mino for this game, but Rookie Minos aren't great against dodgy teams. I fear having to choose 150k roaring or talking 2D no block blitzes with 1/6 roar against blodgers.
The 640k or so in inducements does give me a lot of choices. The Cyanide client only has 3 Chaos stars though - Borak, Grashnak, and Morg. None of which is great against blodging GRs.
So, the options I can see;
Morg + Wizard
Grashnak + Borak
Rookie Mino, Wizard, Grashnak or Borak
Merc Mino + Tentacles (200k I think?), Wizard, and some mix of bribes/babes
My team;
CW: Block, Guard, MB
CW: Block, Guard
CW: Block
CW: Rookie
BM: Block, Tackle, MB
BM: +AG, Block, Dodge
BM: +MA, Block
BM: Blockx3
BM: Rookiex2
My opponent;
RO: +ST, Guard, BT, Block
GR: +ST, Block, MB, Strip, SS
GR: +ST, PB, Block, Extra Arms
GR: +ST, Block, PB, Catch, Daunt, -AV, Niggle
GR: Block, Dauntless
TH: Block, Strong Arm, Accurate, KOR, Safe Throw, Niggle
TH: Rookie
SV: MB, Guard, Tackle, PO
SV: Horns, Tackle, Claw, MB, -MA
LN: Wrestle, Kick, Daunt, -AG, -ST, Niggle
LN: Skill Up
LN: Rookiex3
Thoughts?

Focus on killing those Stormvermin, but see if you can't sacrifice your own Tacklers in the process.
Just my suggestion.

Surely both Bloodwieser babes as a starting point? You are likely to be down men (things?) periodically. 2+ to recover from ko's could be handy. Likewise are you worried about casualties? In which case another apoth?
Have you considered mercenaries? Do the cynanide game let you buy one with a skill? A minotaur with piling on could even things up. Or a beastman with dirty player and a few bribes...
And reguardless sack that -st minatour now!

You desperately need more Mighty Blow to bring this game home.

I'm not fond of Grashnak or a rookie Mino in such game: both are Loners without Block, while your opponent's St6 Rat Ogre got Block. I think he can dominate your big guys with this monster, and he got Break Tackle, so you cannot simply tie him with a designated victim.
Your opponent got only one Claw and 2 Guards...
maybe is the right game for Morg? Block, Av10, St6... he can outlast the monster R-Ogre.
Please, put out of his misery that Kicker. St2, Ag2, Av7, Niggle... it's a Stunty without a leg

Fully agree with MKL here. I was thinking to go with Lord Borak, but Morg is probably a better choice.MKL wrote:I'm not fond of Grashnak or a rookie Mino in such game: both are Loners without Block, while your opponent's St6 Rat Ogre got Block. So Morg, Wizard, Babe. Tasty, tasty.
As for the crippled Kicker, I'm pretty sure your opp will sack him and appoint the freshly skilled up Linerat as his new kicker. EDIT: In that case you will have fewer inducements to work with. I'd then go for Borak, Wizard, Babes over Morg, Babes. Can't pass up a Wizard, IMO.

With AV6/7 on a lot of players, the Wiz does look nice...but I worry Morg won't be that helpful. 2D without tackle vs blodge still isn't that great.

No Chaos Star Player got Tackle or Wrestle. The only one with Tentacles is only S3 (Lewdgrip).swilhelm73 wrote:With AV6/7 on a lot of players, the Wiz does look nice...but I worry Morg won't be that helpful. 2D without tackle vs blodge still isn't that great.
If you want to take down one of his Gutter Runner, your best bet is Grashnak (310k) or a Wrestle/Tackle mercenary Beastman (140k).

Re: Chaos team, lots of inducement money
I'd say you are pretty out classed. You really need the CWs with mighty blow, you need to remove players from the pitch.
If you have a bucket full of inducements go with the halfling hot pot. Take off his rerolls and give them to you.
Hopefully that will cause a few turnovers.
Thow in Max Speenripper and some bribes... oh cyanide. This is making th game less appealing every time something crucial pops up. Wow, it really is a sub par game on cyanide now.

Just noticed I had a typo - the first CW has MB, NOT +MA.Smurf wrote:I'd say you are pretty out classed. You really need the CWs with mighty blow,
Still, as Chaos my opponent will have more Claw and MB then I do - egads.
My last game I lost a Block, Guard, MB CW and of course the Tentacle, Claw Mino. And amusingly enough, the former got fouled after double skulling a 2D block, and the latter got SI'd on an opponents -2D block.

One more argument for big nasty star players is that you can often force your opponent to respond to them: if you're good enough to only use them to hit schmoes when you want to, you can usually get in their face and fearlessly eat actions or force die rolls. You'd be surprised how liberating it is to have a great player and not care if he dies!

And you guys cam through again.
I went with rookie Mino, Grashnak, Wiz, and a Babe and posted a 2-0 win. Grashnak and the Mino both were more valuable then not, and the wizard helped me get the first TD.

Wow, congratulations! Must say that game looked like a lost cause on paper... How did you stop him from scoring?

He tried to stall too aggressively. Missed a 2+ catch in the and zone and I was able to grab the ball and take off.dines wrote:Wow, congratulations! Must say that game looked like a lost cause on paper... How did you stop him from scoring?
