A couple of Chaos doubles

Post by swilhelm73 »

My team;

Min: Rookie
CW: Block, Guard, MB
CW: Block, Guard
CW: Block, Guard
CW: Rookie
BM: +AG, Block, Dodge
BM: Block, Tackle, MB
BM: +MA, Block, Tackle
BM: Block, (2+2)
BM: Blockx2
BM: (5+5)
BM: Rookiex2

So, for the guy with block, the three options that occur to me are JU (for PO later), Dodge, Leader.

For the rookie with 5+5 I guess I have the same three options in addition to +MA.

I do have a dedicated runner already so I'm not as concerned with building another one. I've got one game before the playoffs against a Necro team that doesn't matter in my playoff positioning. In the playoffs my primary worry is the other bash teams - a Claw heavy Chaos team and two Dwarves and also Skaven team with 4 +ST players including a Claw/MB, ST4 SV.

My defense has proven solid and my offense good, but I haven't been able to inflict many injuries comparatively, and in fact have taken a lot this season. The Dwarven teams have been my bane, my overall record is 17-1-2 but my record versus the two dwarf teams is 1-1-2.

Thoughts?

I would suggest Dodge on both. Very simple and "boring", but always effective on a Chaos team.

I suggest your team would be stronger with a couple of Wrestle/Tackle Beastmen (instead of Block/Tackle). For popping the ball loose.

All the best.

I'd take the move boost. extra speed is useful in a variey of roles later, and beasts don't last forever.

I would skip leader, it saves you 30k in tv but it uses a valuable skill slot. Dodge works best in quantity but is of course always useful. Jump up probably takes you down the killer path but you haven't made one yet so he'd be a great candidate.

Don't bother with Wrackle Safeties. They're overrated. Especially +Move Wrackle Safeties.

Don't waste your time. More Block!

Nice record! You've won against all other teams other than the two Dwarf teams. That's mind boggling and I'd build towards beating them too.

So I suggest skipping the doubles and taking Guard on the Block player. That's of use right away. You also need Claw+MB players desperately. They're the only thing that can reliably hurt dwarves. So for that purpose I'd take Mighty Blow for the no skill beastman and then try to score with him as much as you can to get him to Claw.

If you're set on doubles, I'd echo Smeborg and take Dodge on both. Diving Tackle is really nice too but probably better for the warriors. The Jump Up path is very long and given your opponents you're better off with MB and Claw before Piling On. That's three skills and a ton of spp's before you can really utilise Jump Up.

Aye, this.

Usually I'd agree with Smeborg that dodge is the way to go, but you only seem to be struggling against the dwarves. I'd say that one clawed killer would make your life a heck of a lot easier with them..and once they get claw and mb, they aren't slow to skill.

So...it looks like the general synopsis for the 2+2 BM is JU with dodge coming in a close second.

The 5+5 BM seems split between Dodge and +MV.

The playoffs are almost finalized, so presuming I win each match the matchups are:

vs Necro (not playoffs): Not much tackle, but the game doesn't matter to my playoff spot anyway

1st round vs DE (or the Necro from above if they beat me): The DE team is pretty beat up, and I'll come in giving up like 400-500 TV

2nd Round vs +ST up the wazoo Skaven or Killer Chaos: The two teams played three times this season, with the Chaos team winning all three, so the Chaos team is the more likely opponent here. The chaos team has 3 tacklers - including a MB/Claw BM. The Killer chaos team will likely have 300 or so TV on me. I beat both the SK and CH teams earlier in the season, but either would be a tough matchup both pure TV and skill comparison wise.

3rd round vs 4 potential teams, but I'm guessing it will be my arch nemesis DW opponent. I'm the only person to have beaten this DW team, and they are seeded 2nd. They've taken tackle on a couple of non-longbeards, so almost the whole team has it.

Presuming best case, I've got two games before I face two tough matchups. There is a chance I can get a second skill on the 5+5 player, but likely the 2+2 player won't skill up again before the end of the playoffs.

JU and +MV seem clear long term choices. Dodge on both would immediately help in the matches prior to the final (if I make it that far), but not help in the final.

Assuming you face the chaos instead of skaven, then Claw would help you in all those matches and especially against the dwarves.

JU would be a very long term choice. There's simply no synergy with just Block.

Either Dodge for both, or ignore the doubles and take Guard and +MA.
