Albabowl/Block Around the Clock 2

Post by phil78 »

This is all a bit dependant on whether Hoomin decides to return to civilization and run Alba next year but I thought it better to ask sooner rather than later.
Stan has previosuly been asking about dates for BATC 2 so it doesn't clash with Alba with his hope being to use the 1st weekend end in June so that the lunatics who want to participate in the 24hr madness (I thoroughly recommend trying it) have the bank holidays to recover.
But I've been looking at the caravan prices for Pease Bay and they take a hike on the 2nd weekend. (example the van I had last year jumps from 345 to 415, smaller vans around £40)

So with this in mind I'd prefer Alba to run on the 2nd+3rd of June with BATC the weekend after.

But I thouht it best to ask people if they would rather have cheaper vans but no bank holiday after BATC, or the other way round.
Another thing to consider is if everyone is off on the monday it'd be a 3rd night drinking at Alba with less people having to rush off for a long journey on the Sunday night as the van hires are all for 3 nights.

and Rob if you read this , hurry up and decide if you want to run Alba :D

I've been helping Stan out a little in this regard. I'm in the process of sourcing a new secret venue...

He was aiming for 1st weekend in June, yes. I'll give him a nudge re this discussion.

I guess the May 26/27 weekend is an option for one or the other? Having said that I'd have to check whether it was a clash with other events.

I've been speaking to Stan, I was just curious if there was a general opinion amongst people thinking of attending.

Personally I think the 26th/27th might be a good weekend to avoid as it's the weekend after the NAFC.

If the 1st wkend in June has a Bank Hol that would tempt us to return to Alba as we'd have little 'un with us and would therefore need the Mon for the drive back. If Stan tries crashing the Alba date tell him that he's a big meanie ;-)

I would like to point out that the 26th/27th is cakebowl weekend.

I noticed that , but thanks for the warning.

Alba is (hopefully) going to be the first weekend in June (2nd/3rd) and Stan is looking at using the August bank holiday
