Ball & Chain and Wild Animal

Post by DoubleSkulls »

What happens if a Wild Animal starts his action next to a Ball & Chain fanatic?

I would rule that, as both of them have to "move first" the coach can decide which one he wants to take an action first. Aynway, under official rules this combination of players in the same team is not possible.

I think the question is:
"Must the WA throw a block at a fanatic from the opposite team if he starts next to him?"
Answer while keeping in mind that you cannot block a fanatic.

 Sorry for the confusion. At the moment I don't think a WA and B&C could be on the same team.

Anyway - WA's must Block/Blitz a player next to them. What if its a B&C who can't be blocked?

Solutions:

The WA can ignore the B&C. Well there is no TZ so that maybe okay.

The WA can do nothing - burning the Block action - or take the Blitz action without being able to block anyone.

Both of these pretty much give the advantage to one or another.

I think it makes more sense if he can ignore the fanatic, so that's what i would rule as a commish.

Yes, if he cann't block it, how can he be forced?!

And I guess if there are more than one "first movers" ate the same team... well all of them must move before the rest of players, but between them it's coach choice...
At least that's the way these things would do any sense... I think.

I agree... A Fanatic can't be blocked unless by another Fanatic, so I would say that the WA can ignore him.

I'd rule that a Fanatic's movement must go before anyone else's. He moves first on account of him being a Fanatic. WA, being a trait, would go second. That's assuming that, somehow, they're on the same team.

If they're on opposing teams, the WA cannot throw a block on him so he's free to do whatever he can. He still has to move first. Fanatics don't have TZs so he doesn't have to dodge to get away either.

For the record, the Oberwald has always said that fanatics moved before wild animals, because the whole team needs to hold down the fanatic before play starts, and that includes the wild animal.
