Setzer's Painting Thread

Post by SetzerGabbz »

What up, everyone? Thought I'd make a thread, since that's what all the cool kids seem to do, about all the painting and minor conversions I've been doing lately. I have about 14-ish teams worth of figures that are all unpainted, so I'll have plenty to post about in here.

So, first up, I made Grimran 'The Guvnor' from one of the compendiums since I play mainly as Dwarfs (I know, Heff) and ruined a perfectly good Throne Bearer to make a completely useless Star Player that isn't official.

Image

I know, it's pretty blurry. I'll try and get a camera between now and my next post since my phone doesn't seem to be cutting it.

I made a coach for my team, too (again very blurry):

I'm not quite sure who made this one. I found it while digging around in my friend's D&D figure box, and he said I could have it.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

I wish I could take credit for the pitch, but I can't (well, I could, but if I was found out it'd turn into a huge scandal). The pitch was actually done by Silver Compass Designs.

Image

The board itself is made of tempered hardboard, the squares are plasticard, and the lines/center are laser engraved plastic. It's split down the middle so it's easier to transport (I might give it hinges later eventually).

It also came with a scoreboard and a custome range ruler for passing since it's a tad bigger than a standard pitch.

Image

I'm still using the basic dugouts because I haven't had a chance to make my own or have found any for sale that match really well.

And then just for completion's sake, I bought a tin of LOTR: Mines of Moria dice. I need to find some good matching block dice.

Outstanding pitch. The inlaid runes are very impressive.

Heff - what is your record against dwarves (with any team)? Just curious.

Hey I lose as easily against Dwarves as any other team, I just think they are BORING and BROKEN. I think that even I could win with them and I am about the worst coach I know, I just would not sully my hands with the beardy cheesemongers.
Fix the linemen and I don't have a problem at all.

I don't disagree with Heff's argument for Dwarves being over-powered. However, I'm an antagonizing a-hole. :D So I just wanted to see if there was something more to the high level of hatred he displays for the lil' fellas or if he just enjoys defiling their name.

Be that as all the beard-hate may, I do have a Big Hat team that I have mostly painted up. I'm gonna redo them, though, since I'm not 100% happy with them. Plus, I just got two new WFB Bull Centaurs I converted over (finally can put my Hthark in the Star Player goodness), so they're next on my project list after I finish up my Bretonnian team.

I think these dwarve dice from impact may be more up your alley.

I like the coach by the way, with the little dice on top of his staff he almost has a pimp cane.
