fire this werewolf?

Post by angior »

Hi all,
I am pretty undecided here.
I have a superstar werewolf that just got a concussion. With +1 str of course he is extremely helpful but now I feel like he is a lot of TV waiting to be easily taken off the field. Should I fire him or not? I would normally keep him but my other ww is also +str (niggling injury on him but I am hoping he may reach superstar level and roll a double).
My team:
WW1: +1 str -1 Armor, block, sidestep, dodge, jump up
WW2: +1 str -MV, block, sidestep, dodge
FG1: Block, Guard, dodge, mighty blow
FG2: block, guard
Wight1: guard, tackle
wight2: rookie
ghoul1: block, +1agi, tackle
ghoul2: block
zombie1: block guard,dauntless
zombie2: block dauntless
zombie3 block kick
zombie4; block
zombie5 block

I am in a league were we have mixed teams, and often i would concede lot of inducements because of my puppies. My team got destroyed from another necro team were his mighty blow ww did all the damage, so I am very much inclined now to restart with a rookie ww hoping to get mighty blow, but is always hard to fire +str player. Suggestions?

I would fire him: with av 7 he's prone to injury, and if that happens a big chunk of your TV is out of the pitch.
How many rerolls do you have?

I would keep him. He has blodge, sidestep and ST4. How many armour rolls will someone make on this guy? Not many. You don't fire ST4 wardancers for having armour 7.

Really, keep him. It is a monster.

Firing the Werewolf would give him 2 benefits as well:
1) a 250 TV deflating (he said that his opponents tend to have a lot of inducements). His team can play well with a rookie Werewolf, because it has a good distribution of skills;
2) a chance of taking MB on the new Werewolf (as he would like to have); in my humble opinion, a MB St 3 Werewolf is better than a St 4 Werewolf without MB, TV cost-wise.

The Wardancer example you brought in my opinion is not good, because his starting AV is 7, not 8, you don't fire players who have no -AV malus, generally speaking;
therefore, if you want to use the example of a ST 4 Wardancer, you should do it with a ST 4 AV 6 Wardancer, not an AV 7 Wardancer; his AV 7 Werewolf costs as much as an AV 8 Werewolf with the same skills, but he has AV 7 and is more fragile, that's the point.
Moreover, if you fire a Wardancer, you can't hope to have MB + Claw with the new one (with a rookie Werewolf you can hope to get it).

Take your example!! Would you fire a ST4, stripp ball, tackle, sidestep, jump up AV6 wardancer?

I would not. Really with blodge sidestep ST4 you will not get many armour rolls against. That is an awesome beast.

Team value bloat. I am tired of those discussions. Off course your opponent will have inducements but with 2 ST4 werewolves you should be able to overcome that.

And just firing to hope on doubles. Imagine your beast rolls a double and get's mighty blow.

He already have +ST and you should be glad and thank nuffle for that, Not fire him.

Yes, I would fire him.
The reason?
Because with AV 6 a simple failed dodge/GFI/leap could take him out of the pitch with ease. There are many ways for which you have to make an AV roll in BB, not only by a direct block/blitz. I don't want to lose a big chunk of TV that way.
His beast needs 176+ SPPs to try to get MB, I don't know how many SPPs does it have currently, though.
A rookie needs just 6 SPPs and has, potentially, more skill rolls and AV 8.

I'd keep the wolf. With -AV he's now immune to Claw. ST4 werewolves are a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

Rookie werewolves suck big time on developed teams. Just by aiming to skill him you're making sacrifices on the pitch and your chances of losing matches goes up. Recycling key players in hopes of getting doubles is a road to ruin. Werewolves are players that get better with every skill they get, even if it's normal skills. Skinks or zombies, as an example, don't. Side stepping Diving Tackle skinks are awesome but what comes after that? MB werewolves are great but not game winners unless you have really hot dice (in which case you'd probably win anyway).

Anyway, you need a Dirty Player zombie asap. Zombies as 40k players make excellent foulers. You said that you had problems with an opposing MB werewolf. What better way to deal with one than a boot to the head after you down him unassisted with a ST4 wolf?

I would keep it too.

2 4ST WW is really scary to face. I would happilly induce that beast for his cost. Sure, you will be giving up wizards often, but that will make natural selection ;)

Yeah, I'd keep it too. I'd be more worried about that niggle you mentioned on the other one. I tend to foul wolves as much as possible and together with DP, the niggle becomes quite a liability.

Keep him - the wolf is incredible. Firing just to rebuild would be, in my opinion, a big mistake (it would take so long to develop another wolf to comparable power).

The question of firing is all about timing. In a perpetual TV matched league I'd seriously consider firing him. In a league with less than 5 games to a play off or something I'd definitely keep him. Since there doesn't appear to be that sort of info around, my gut reaction would be to keep him. +ST WWs are nice :)

Thank to you all for you considerations.
This is a team in a perpetual league with teams with many different TV, and I will be just starting a new season of 9 games before the play-off.
The consensus seem to keep him so I will give it a shot, then if I see that he leaves the games too quickly I will then proceed to fire him.

If you are just starting a new season I would drop him.

He will spend more time off the pitch with -AV. And you need your positionals on the field as Necro...

I would like the owner of this werewolf to count the next game how many armour rolls are thrown on this guy.

Please hold statistics how many time you roll armour on a block, dodge, sidestep werewolf.

It will not be much.
