How do you beat TV 2000+ Dark elves? - Updated May 8th
Hi Guys,
Do I take a wizard and a chainsaw?? I am playing necro with Blodging wolves, one block golum (other golum has nothing), 2 guard wights, one sure hands ghoul + one rookie ghoul, and one block zombie + the others.
He has an Ag5 witchelf, blodging blitzers x4 - one with side step, one with fend, one mighty blow. Blodge lineman throughout. in total 11 men.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this guy??
I was thinking crowd surf and chainsaw
Cheers Ummie
UPDATE
Hi Guys
I am back again for further wisdom.
Right I am playing the same team in the superbowl for the trophy. It is a Dark Elf monster team of 2150 TV with the Ag5 witch elf and 4 x blitzers with side step etc as above but now he has 13 men all but one with block and dodge.
My necro are at 1540 with a blodgeing sure hands ghoul, WW with blodge (one is mighty blow), the wights are guard and the FG one has block. I also have two block zombies.
The inducements come in at 610K and last time I used Chaney and Hack Enslash. The chainsaw was useless, kept getting hit and eventually killed himself. Chaney wasn't as good as he could have been wrestle didn't work well with the Elves.
I am thinking Wizard, but then I am looking at other inducements and I am stuck. Suggestions??? I am in need as I play Thursday night!
Cheers

11 men at 2k tv is not many at all, should be quite easy to get a man advantage.
How much inducements do you have? Wilhelm Chaney is very good.

I have about 400K of inducements.
That is why I thought of a chainsaw and a wizard.

Kick to him. Hang back and focus on gumming up his offence so that he needs to roll a lot of dice if he wants to score in 2 turns. Pick off any Dark Elves who try to come within scoring distance.
Frankly, I think you simply need some bribes and a deep bench. Focus on intimidating and slowing down his first drive while you try get Elves off the pitch. Even if he goes up 2-0 by half, you should still have a shot at the draw if you've gotten enough Elves out of the game. Ideally, even if he scores first, you still get to grind him for the rest of the game in the hopes of a 2-1 win.

Not sure how Luthor would be against a load of blodge dark elves... If I had the money extra I'd take him.nick_nameless wrote:Or Count Luthor!Jimmy Fantastic wrote:For 390 you can get Chaney and a Wiz.

if you are uncomfortable with 3x frenzy in the field, you can substitute Chaney with Setekh: sometimes that S4+Break Tackle comes in handy.

I am fine with the frenzy, I am concerned that with out tackle vs all that blodge that he'll just push them and not take them from the field. With only 11 men I really want to smack down his numbers to get an advantage. Furthermore, I want to get the ball off of him. I can't do that if the players are on their feet.

Ditch the Wizard idea - it's not that reliable and will only give you one shot at one player. Better to increase your overall power on the pitch (Wilhelm @ 240k; Str 4 with Claw). As you point out you can then manipulate the sidelines and if you roll a pow then it's AV 7 time
Maybe a Merc Zombie with Dirty Player? Extra man for your team and you get to foul..... Would not be as easy to dispatch as the chainsaw.

Yeah, ditch the wiz. I have a rule of thumb; don't take a wizard unless you can pick the ball up afterwards and preferably get it a long way away from their players.Podfrey wrote:Ditch the Wizard idea - it's not that reliable and will only give you one shot at one player. I'd go Chaney and Saw(assuming you have enough inducements).
The saw is a gamble, if it rolls a 1 first blitz, you'll regret taking it, but there's nothing better for removing opposing niggled players, and Witch Elves.
I usually store the chainsaw inside the cage, next to the ball carrier, instead of using it for blitzing. Elves love to pop the side of a cage and blodge mark up a carrier to prevent him going anywhere, and for some reason, they feel a lot less secure about standing next to a chainsaw

Remember, with a Saw, it's not the *actual* impact that matters, it's the percieved impact. Your opponent may have gonads of steel, and trust to the fact that statistically speaking, it isn't that effective. While it's there as a threat, you can use it as bait for an important turn (so many players just blitz a saw because they can take it out, even if you are about to flank the opposite side and outposition them), or as a tactical fear generator.
If by some miracle it get to the end of a half undamaged, start fouling with it!

took Chaney and Enslash.... Enslash was rubbish! Chaney took hits so tied up 3 people each turn. So was a good destraction. It ended 1-1

Pretty good result really. I would always take a wiz in that situation, sure it was unlikely that you could have made into a defensive score but it could save a td, and it forces your opponent to play uncomfortably.

Next time I may play him will be the final. I'll have approx 500-600K inducements. I will definitely take a wizard then.. Chainsaws just not worth it.
