Firing players to get inducements or deny them

Post by Jeremiah Kool »

What do you think about this? This season I did it fairly often whith my Undead. l never lacked the cash or players, getting free Zombies didn't hurt either.

Well, I woud in general try and keep my team at around 12-13 players with Undead. I supose if I went over that I would start doing what you describe. I suppose if the 13th unskilled player meant the oppo got a wizard I would cut him.

TV trimming is part of team management, very common in perpetual leagues.
Your idea is a wise one.

I think so, but I guess not every team can do this . If I were Wood Elves I'd save the money. Skaven could do it better.

Sometimes I even bought or fired coaches and cheerleaders. That didn't help me but since it wasn't too expensive I did it. A little silly, but only at first glance.

My next opponent is Orcs with only 11 players. If he isn't buying another player I will fire my 14th guy to deny a Babe.

This is absolutely part of team management in my opinion. There's potentially an issue with how late you allow modifications, you both sit down at the table and start cutting players would be too late IMO.

It's allowed in my league. That makes it very easy.

As said earlier, I'd check with your league commish.

FUMBBL as an example makes this easy. The rules there say that the higher TV team has to "ready" first, which gives a slight boost to the underdog.

I've quite frequently done it there, and my 2 major qualifier wins both came from taking 1700 TV teams with 11 players and relying on managing my TV accurately to get the best inducements I could. Lizardmen and DE (with a stat freak) are both especially good at this...sacking a skink to drop to 10 players and getting Silibili in inducements as an exchange (if you were close already) is a bit of a no brainer!
