Nurgle rolls a couple of doubles, beast and rotter

Post by Chris »

The team is fairly developed, 13 strong. One killer pestigor, strength based warriors (block, guard stand firm etc), and the rotters all have one skill each now. 1 kick, 1 dirty player, 1 wrestle. The 4th chap has rolled a double, I'm thinking leader is the best bet?

The beast has had a good run, no injuries and has now got in order of award stand firm, guard, break tackle, block and another double. Is dodge worth it to become very hard to knock down? If he didn't have stand firm I would be giggling with sidestep. Is pro useful? i took it on an Ogre with block a while back and it furtherly underpowerformed. Maybe frenzy to ruin my positioning? Fend as a cop out to try and survive the clpomb teams I keep facing? Would rather dodge in that situation.

Or just be a dull so and so and get claw? (Though I haven't seen the animation for two heads, would that crash it? :) Actually I would be tempted to take all sorts of mutations to see what the beast looks like!)

Depends entirely on format. TV based MM sack the beast and get another cos he is too much TV. Scheduled league Dodge or Claw depending on the rest of the teams. Dirty Player on the Rotter and buy 2 more reserves.

I think Dodge is good if you are going to keep the beast (I would but JF may have a point). Alternatively what about Prehensile tail to make him even harder to get away from? Or diving tackle when you REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want him to get away (bad with the negatrait I know).

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

But that is sneaky on a tarpit piece with sf. 2/6 you put him over 5/6 you move him somewhere nastier for you or he stays put. Nobody would dare block him. 1/6 you do yourself. And it takes 3 tarpitted players for a 2 dice.

I think dodge really completes his role... goes nicely with BT getting him wherever he wants to go, and makes him disgustingly difficult to shift away from that spot once he's there.

Dodge for me. An easy answer because your Beast already has Break Tackle and Block. With Blodge/S-Firm he becomes a well-nigh immovable object (and is well protected against most ClawPomBers), and with B-Tackle/Dodge, he can move with minimal risk, as well as threatening to break cages almost at will (4+dodge with re-roll). The only missing skill now is Pro at 176 SPPs.

Hope that helps.

Beast = Blodge

Rotter, not sure without knowing the make-up of your team. Leader if you're short of rerolls, guard if you're short on guards. MB > Claw if you're short of damage causing skills.

I have to ask: why? Would 2 heads not have been a better choice for this?

Surely break tackle lets me dodge with 'ag' 5, whereas two heads would give me +1 to my ag 1 so I get to dodge on a 4?

@dode74:
If you mean 2H in spite of Break Tackle... well 2H is a double skill for the beast (STR normal access on normal rolls).

If you mean 2H over dodge, I'm not sure... but I think I prefer the extra RR than +1. With 5 STR you will lose the dodge roll if you roll a natural "1" anyway even with the +1, so I think it's better to have the RR that the skill dodge provides, IMHO.

2 heads would be an awful pick for a beast. All it would do is give a 3+ dodge into a cage with BT, or a 4+ dodge away normally. BT and dodge gives a re-rollable 4+ into a cage, or re-rollable a 2+ normally. So, so much better.

Did you mis-read and think he was talking about a pestigor? :wink:
