Fun team
I'm thinking about starting a "fun" handicap team to play against less experienced players and I'm looking for some inspiration.
I already created a "hail mary pass" orc team with 4 goblins and no black orc but it's actually surprisingly effective: against coaches who don't know how to counter it you probably score and win even more than with a regular orc team.
So I'm trying to think even more outside the box, with a full thrall team or a full snotling team for example. However I still want a chance at winning, and a full snotling team sounds so underpowered that I don't think I could win or draw a single game, even against beginners. Does anyone have experience with such teams, or have ideas for other "fun" team builds? Is there an effective way of playing a full snotling team as in, can you reach a win/loss ratio of let's say 40% against beginners?

Re: Fun team
A full snotling team can easily get Morg, so you can show them both the arts of fouling and the skills of using a big monster player. You might not win, but if they can't get Morg down they'll end up with a 1-0 win only, that will probably feel hard-fought.

Re: Fun team
I did an Orc team with no Blitzers, Black Orcs or Throwers. Called OrcGoblinSquig Half, Orc, half Goblin and half Squig.
It had to have 4 goblins, 6 lineorcs and the troll and I hired Fungus the Loon every game (though this was LRb4). You could substitute fungus for other goblin special weapons instead. Or bring back his lrb4 rules about having to go 1st and collapsing on a 1.

Re: Fun team
I had a lot of fun with an Orc team with no Troll and no Black Orcs. The final roster was:
4 Blitzers
2 Throwers
4 Lineorcs
4 Gobbos
3 RR
Apoth
TV105
The team was quite good, not that far behind the better teams. The skills you badly need are Guard on the Blitzers, Block on the Throwers (they are utility players with a lot of work to do), and Wrestle on the Lineorcs (the best way to cope with Blodgers before other players get Tackle). +MA is pretty handy, though in hindsight I might prefer +AV on the Gobbos.
You tend to get a low level of inducements every game. If Orc players are missing the game, Mercs with a skill are quite good value. The Gobbos come into their own in this team, it's what convinced me to play Underworld as a genuinely competitive team.
I also had fun with an all Hobgoblin team:
15 Hobgobs
4 RR
Apoth
TV93
They were quite a lot better than I was expecting. One got +ST, +AG early, so I had a great playmaker. A couple got +MA. Development strategy was simple: Wrestle unless the first skill was a doubles, in which case it went Guard, Block. A disappearing team, so you had to come up with cunning ways to score. Plenty of hard fought draws (e.g. 2-2), thus quite sporting for both coaches.
The reason for 15 players was because the team were racial supremacists, and only allowed Hobgob stars. There is only one (Rashnak). I found he is actually rather good.
Hope that helps.

A fun team I have wanted to try, but never got around to, is a Chaos team with no Chaos Warriors, i.e. Mino + Beastmen only. Horns'R'Us.

Re: Fun team
An "All Snotling" team would only be fun for about the first fifteen minutes of your first game. After that it would be miserable torture. Even if you take only 12 Snotlings and buy only 3 Rerolls, that terrible roster only leaves enough to induce Morg and one other thing (@ 100k). If you could get a chef and two bribes and some other fun stuff I'd say yea it might be fun, but really you can't understand how terrible snotlings are until you've played ogres for an extended period. I have a current ogre team where almost all the snots have diving tackle, and they're STILL completely worthless defenders. Also, they have an unbelievable knack for dying on 50% of their Injury rolls, which I presume is simply because Nuffle hates them with a fiery passion.
An all-skink team, on the other hand, could actually be pretty fun and might give you a fighting chance. Alternatively, you might do something like a deep-bench Lizard team with only 3x Saurus or 2x Saurus and 1x Krox just to give you a wee bit of muscle and some LOS fodder.

Re: Fun team
In cyanide my "leaguemates" and me made really really fun games in a league stunty:
The rules were:
Only ogres, halflings, lizardmen, goblins
Ogres only can play 1 ogre
Halflings only can have 1 treeman
Lizardman only can have kroxigor and skinks
Goblins can't use secret weapons and only 1 troll
Lizardman were indeed favourites, but games were tones of fun because of that rule:
*Time turn were at 0'40'', it is 40 seconds per turn.
So... crazy as hell. But very fun.
Now we are starting another similar league with agile players in 40'' format too.

Re: Fun team
I like the ideas so far, keep them coming!
- The full skeleton team sounds interesting, I like the concept. It may even the odds against complete beginners who don't quite understand the difference between a 1D and a 2D block;
- The chaos team with only beastmen and a minotaur is indeed a challenge, a friend of mine tried that, he's a very good coach and he got a win/loss ratio of about 40% (then again, he played against good coaches as well and against more experienced teams);
- In another thread, spubbba mentioned a chaos slann team that took very long legs and leap on doubles. I like that! I never played slanns before and this "fun" team would be for a Cyanide league so I could try to morph a chaos team into a slann team. It would take forever to build the team but this way even when the team is experienced it could play against beginners without having the upper hand as the skills are really subpar and would still give inducements to the opponent.

- Dark elf team with no Blitzers; starting with 2 Witches, 2 Runners and 1 Assassin (or 1 Runner & 2 Asassins). and 6 Linemen, 2 Rerolls.
- Human team with no Ogre; 2 Throwers, 4 Catchers, 4 Blitzers, 1 Lineman, 3 Rerolls.
- Hobgoblin team: 13 Hobgoblins, 4 Rerolls, enough TV difference for 2 Bribes (just 'cause).
- 'Khemri' Undead team: 2 Mummies, 2 Wights, 9 Skeletons, 3 Rerolls.
- Dwarf team with 12 Lineman and 3 Rerolls.
Just some ideas.
