Yeah ... we told the sculptor they were supposed to be CW sized and for some reason he failed to deliver. It was a real surprise to us since normally his work is so good. I had hoped all 4 would be bigger figures as well. However I'd already paid for the sculpts before I got a chance to see what they really looked like. I still think it was a great concept ... it just did not execute as hoped.

Not going to lie, I picked up some of the conversion arms and ended up being very disappointed with the tiny hands... I'd love love love a set of sprues with clenched fists, open hands, ball throwing hands, pointing fingers etc in a range of sizes from little human up to Ogre. If the conversion sprues I bought had worked out I suspect I'd have bought more by now in favour of doing weapon snips, but as it stands I've yet to convert anything with hands small enough to fit the sprues :(

I know that's a bit of a pipe dream though, I've heard Galak say before that the conversion sprues have never worked out. Seriously though that'd be a kickstarter that I'd buy into heavily, I hate weapon snipping!

To the question at hand, I've been honest and said I wouldn't buy them. It's not that I don't like the design, but yeah just don't have a need for them. I actually quite like the AQ but given I already have a Chaos and Nurgle team I couldn't think of a use for them. These guys seem like a perfect addition of Max and Borak to a team that uses the AQ but given the AQ sold poorly it seems that your money is better spent elsewhere.

I'm really surprised the conversion sets don't sell well. Part of my guess would be that, with so many awesome third party teams out there (including the ones at Impact!) lots of players would probably prefer to grab those rather than buy up a GW set or two to convert (since most of the third party teams are pretty much ready to go without conversion).

That being said, I've been building up to my first Impact! order, and the shoulder pads and conversion hands are at the top of my list -- think they're a great idea!! (Though, I do prefer to work with GW plastics as a base for price and because I prefer plastic minis for conversion, painting, and storage. I'm starting to get the sense though that it's an uncommon position.)

The Kroot set is an amazing idea and right up my alley, but I agree that the price for all the necessary bitz parts and then the Kroots to boot is surprisingly expensive.

Not for me sorry. Nice figures but chaos teams are perhaps the easiest to get by converting gw. As to the sprues they were perfect for my harlequin team

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

Yes I did say that ... but that is not me being in love with GW.

I had to make that promise in order to get the Slann team to be experimental. It was again about the players. Without that promise the Slann team would have never been made officially experimental for the Vault and it would not now be part of what everyone considers the rules for the game. How that gets turned into "when tom was still in love with granny, he did'nt want to offend her" as a forum post is beyond me.

I'll relook at the Kroot conversion sprues for the price. The only thing I could think to do is remove them from our pewter Distributor catelogues. If I did that I could drop the price on them by a decent amount (however it would be at the risk of ticking off my distributors (ie I'd probably need to offer them a refund for any Calasain sprues they had purchased)).

well, be that as it may...i like both figures in question. tho i must say, the chainsaw dude has a scifi vibe going. would i buy them? tbh, with all the fine bb/ff figures being produced as of late, my moneys been going to spain and italy(bought every figure from the fine folks at GOBLIN FORGE and i'm waiting for them to make something new, so no money going to france latly)and i can't say enough about comixininos(highly recommended. they take great care of repeat customers), so mostlikely no, at least for some time. i need to buy that new black scorpion dwarf team when that comes out, too... :-?

Brutally honnest answer:

1- They are better Chaos Chainsaw than this guy. Too much Chaos Space Marine for me.

2- Regarding Kaos, my first reaction was: nothing to see move along...I do not know, could be a great evil warrior fantasy fig, but for FF....I don't know.

Both space mariney, but really they do dominate our imagination...

I do like 'busy' armour, or at least baroque . Hell I love my Space Crusade chaos space marine commander! As a 'Lord' and a chainsaw chap ok, but they are models which would have to do well to capture imagination given the alternatives.

The conversion sprues - I bought them witha specific aim in mind and they are good. However it honestly never occured to me to use them to convert non FF models! Maybe linking to a gallery showing what can be achieved witht hem would be good? Certainly if I had had better imagination I would have got some more - as it is I have run out of ideas of what they could be used for...

I don't mind #2, but Chainsaw guy doesn't cut it for me.

Maybe off topic, but didn't I read somewhere that Impact! was issuing CW for a Nurgle team?

I love the chainsaw figure and would buy one but I already have a chaos looney. The other figure is very good indeed, but I would be hard put incorporating it into a Nurgle team without three other similar teammates to go alongside.

I'm assuming the intent would be that you could use him as Borak with the AQ as the normal warriors :D

True. But that's a pretty much unused model unless I get enough inducements then.

Virral has it ... our original plan was the 4 Horsemen could at as Warriors with Kaos as Borak and Pollution as Max.
