Would you keep a STR4, AV8 ogre with Break Tackle?
Just a question for the community:
I finally have six ogres on my ogre team (~10 games played). Trouble is, my sixth ogre is STR4 and AV8 (with Break Tackle). I have an essentially empty treasury. Would you keep this ogre?
I suspect many will see it as a 160k TV bloat, but I'd much rather have a STR4, AV8 ogre than another snotling on the pitch. Once I get the cash to replace, this guy will get the boot. But until then (probably about 4 games), he'll be taking the field.

Cut for sure. Having -ST would mean that the player had to have something spectacular skill combination and Break Tackle ain't that. Ogres can live with -AV, -MA, -AG or a niggle but -ST is bad, bad, bad.
TV management is a serious issue for ogre teams and you'll be much more effective with the inducements cutting this guy will give you (or deny your opponent).

Are you scheduled or MM?
In scheduled, cut without question. You know your next opponent, so you can inducement up instead.
In MM...it's dubious. You won't be able to get the benefit of the inducements, but he will go pop early. I'd still certainly be looking to fire him. The big risk in MM is your opponents have 8 extra skills on you, which especially if they are clawbomb related, could end up with more ogres going missing and suffering more damage in the long run.

In the days of LRB4 I would have said keep him around until you can replace him.
However, now that we're in LRB5/CRP I agree with Hitonagashi. If it's a scheduled league I'd rather have the inducements. Especially 160k worth. That's usually going to at least buy you a wandering apo if not a decent Star Player. Or at bare minimum a couple of babes to get those bad boys back on the pitch.

Well, 140k worth of inducements as he would be replaced by a snotling? Are you runing a 16 or 11 man roster? MM or league? I would probably cut regardless as the inducements are probably better - but it depends on who you are playing, if you have the highest tv in the league it is less of an issue perhaps?

Re: Would you keep a STR4, AV8 ogre with Break Tackle?
Team roster is at 14 Players:
1x Ogre with Block, Break Tackle
2x Ogres with Break Tackle
2x Ogres (rookie)
1x Ogre with Break Tackle, -ST, -AV
6x Snotling with Diving Tackle
2x Snotling (Rookie)
It is not a match-making league, but a pseudo-scheduled TT league (everyone shows up same night, scheduling is done on the spot and can take into consideration who is there), so no ridiculously developed Clawpomb teams or anything. I suspect my TV is probably within 100k-200k of most of the other teams, with my team being on the low end.
My thinking is I'd much rather have this battered old ogre than 2x Bloodweiser Babes or a Wandering Apoth. I'd much rather my opponent have 2x BB if I get this battered ogre instead of a snotling. I don't even mind playing against a Wizard all that much, becuase it's pretty darn rare if I ever have a player adjacent to a teammate (loose titchy cages and ogres spread out to maximize roadblocking), so Fireballs are largely moot.

Your ogre is much worse compared to a S5 ogre. It's not viable to get 3d blocks with it against ST3 and ít can't bully S3 players around.RogueThirteen wrote:My thinking is I'd much rather have this battered old ogre than 2x Bloodweiser Babes or a Wandering Apoth. By cutting him you'd take yourself into the territory where you could induce Bertha or Brickfarth or Nobbla with bribes.

If you're at the low end of TV for the league I would definitely cut him then. You'll get a nice Star to replace him which will probably increase your odds of winning. Winning = better winnings = new Ogre faster.
Trim that fat.

I agree with the general concensus, fire him. If I had that much money for inducements against you I'd buy an apo + a Bloodweiser Babe and think myself quids in. What would you get in return? An expensive player whose primary attribute has taken a hit, whose only skill also depends on this attribute. Simples.

Snippety snip. That guy needs to be in an Ogre bar reliving his glory days and ensuring lots of warm bodies come to you for try outs
